Flint Beth Israel Post
Cantor Louis Greenblatt of Tux-
eod Ave. was elected as cantor for
the High Holy Days by Cong.
Beth Israel of Flint. Cantor Green-
blatt, who has been acclaimed as
an 'outstanding tenor, is widely
known as an operatic and liturgi-
cal singer.
Lessing's Poem Dramatized
For Eternal Light Program
A drama for - radio by Ben
Kagan, based on Gotthold Less-
ing's poem, "Nathan . the Wise,"
will be presented Sunday, Aug. 18,
on the Eternal Light program.
"I Believe, I Believe," a radio
drama by Norman Rosten, will be
presented Sunday, Aug. 25. This
play is based on a story told by
Yossel Ostrovtzer to Dr. Fishel
Schneurson, and translated for
the May, 1946, issue of Land and
Life Magazine, by William Z.
Spiegelman.
S,32,000 Tools, Machines
Sent to Europe by ORT
NEW YORK—Tools and mach-
ines valued at more than $362,000
have been sent this year by ORT
—Organization for Rehabilitation
through Training—to its schools
and workshops for Jews through-
out the , world, including the dis-
placed persons camps in Ger-
many, it is announced in a re-
port received here by the Ameri-
can ORT Federation from the
World ORT Union in Geneva.
Most of the equipment is sold
on credit to individual artisans
and cooperative groups whose
payments will go into a revolv-
ing fund for the same purpose.
Not included in the total fig-
ure is the equipment supplied to
repatriated refugee craftsmen re-
turning to their home countries
or the sums expended for main-:
taming training projects.

New Leader, Rabbi Segal, to
Speak; Cantor to Be Named
at Meeting Wednesday

closing of its membership rolls in
view of the large influx of new
members, Meyer Rubin, secretary,
announced on Monday at a meet-
ing. of the board of directors at
the home of David Tchor.
Alfred Helfgott, chairman of the
dedication ceremonies to be held
on Sept. 8, at the new synagogue
social hall on Curtis and Santa
Rosa. announced that plans are
nearing completion for the after-
noon services at 2:30 p. m. and
the dinner at 6:30. Tickets may
be obtained from Sam Bez, presi-
dent of the Men's Club, Manny
Lax, co-chairman of tickets, or
officers of the congregation. An
outstanding speaker will address
the banquet, which will be fol-
lowed by , dance music.
The presentation of Sifre Torah
to the congregation will feature
the dedication.
The newly elected spiritual
leader of the synagogue, Rabbi
Jacob E. Segal, will take office on
Sept. 1, and will be the principal
speaker at the afternoon dedica-
tion services on Sept. 8.
David Miller, chairman of the
religious school committee stated
that a conference between Rabbi
Segal, Mr. Warsen, supervisor of
the Sunday School, and the com-
mittee is being arranged to set up
the curriculum for the year.
Benjamin Bradman, Chairman
of the committee to select a
cantor, is in New York audition-
ing applicants.
A meeting of members of the
congregation will be held next
Wednesday evening, in the Bag-
ley school. The agenda includes
recommendations of the Board
with reference to a purchase of
additional land for the synagogue;
appointment of a cantor; reports
by the nominating committee and
a report on the status of the
building project of the synagogue.

first national medical center under

States will be established at Los

The National Federation of
Temple Sisterhoods has just pub-
lished its Art Calendar for 5707,
an annual project of the organi-
zation, which has as 'its purpose

annually illustrated the work of a

The present calendar is dedi-
cated to Hebrew Union College,
on the occasion of its 70th anni-
versary. It contains illustrations
and descriptions of the College
buildings, including the stately
Dormitory which was built and
equipped by members of the Na-
tional Federation of Temple Sis-
terhoods in 1924, at a cost of
$345:000.
Rabbi Adler to Lecture
On Prophets at Albion
Rabbi Morris Adler will give
a five-day lecture course on "The
Old Testament Prophets" at the
Senior High Institute of the
Methodist Youth Fellowship. The
Institute will be held Aug. 25-30
at Albion College, Albion, Mich.
On Tuesday evening, Aug. 27,
Rabbi Adler will speak on "Jew-
ish Religious - Customs and Prac-
tices of Interest to Christian
