A Call to Arms! No Time for Despair!
Jewish National Fund ouncil Calls Community
To Join in Zin n Land Redemption on Tisha b'Ab
On the eve of Tisha
the Jewish National Fund Coun-
cil of Detroit issues to the entire Jewish community of Detroit
this call to arms:
When we gO to our synagogues next Monday evening
and on Tuesday, to mourn the destruction of the Temples in
Jerusalem and the exile of our people from Eretz Israel, if is
our responsibility to redeem our courage and to strive for
the liberation of our people.
THIS IS NO TIME FOR DESPAIR!
The work for the redemption of Palestine goes on, regard-
less of any provocations.
If we are to find genuine consolation in our sorrows, we
must unite in the task of speeding the redemption of Palestine
and the acquisition of the Holy Soil as the property of the
entire Jewish people.
through foil, with the coins of our entire people gathered
throughout the world.
By joining in the redemption of the land, Jews everywhere
express their solidarity with the cause of freedom and libe•a-
tion.
The security of Palestine's Jewish community of 600,000
Gies in the courage we give them in their battle for justice and
in the acquisition of more land as the property of the Jewish
people.
Obstacles placed in the path of our national redemption
come from sources which seek to interfere with the only •.4an-
date over Palestine that is valid for our people: the Bible. We
call upon our people to remember the words of Isaiah (65.2 I-22):
"They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they
shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They
shall not plant, and another eat; for as the days of a tree
shall be the days of My people, and My chosen ones
shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
Tisha b'Ab must be made an occasion not for endless
mourning, but for determined effort to repair the damage
that has been done to Israel's well-being.
At this time we renew the traditional appeal to our com-
munity fo go to the synagogues on Tisha b'Ab—Monday night
and Tuesday and to respond liberally to the appeals that will
be made at that time for the Jewish National Fund, the land
redemption agency of our people.
Go to your synagogues!
Join in prayer for the redemption of Zion!
—
By redeeming more and more soil in Palestine, we will be
signaling our message to the Jews of Palestine, that we are
going forward, that we are closing ranks and are pursuing vig-
orously the task of assuring a Homeland in the land of Israel.
Give liberally to the Jewish National Fund!
And if you are unable to attend services in your synagogue,
on Tisha b'Ab, make use of the coupon on this page to assist
in the great land redemption program of the Jewish National
Fund.
