1 ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Miss Bernice Simon of Santa Barbara Ave. returned from her
vacation at Hill Top Inn, Charlevoix, Mich.
Miss Alyce Michelson of 2070 Collingwood has left for a three-
week stay in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Harrison of Santa Barbara Drive entertained
at a buffet dinner honoring their guests, Mrs. David Klip and
daughter, Rebecca, and Mrs. D. Chiatt and daughter, Sheila, of
Mexico City.
Mrs. Philip S. Weisman and daughter, Marilyn Ruth, have
returned from Los Angeles, where they spent the last six months,
and are now residing at. 1021 Covington Drive.
The Misses Lucy Sucher and Violet Roth, of Oakman Blvd.,
left by plane for a two weeks stay in the Caskill Mountains, New
York. They also plan to visit in New York for • a few days with
relatives before departing for the mountains.
Mr. E. Horwitz of Oudtshoorn, South Africa, and Sam Jacobs
of San Antonio, Tex., are visiting their nieces, Henrietta Garvett
and Hilda Cohen, of 2996 Monterey.
Dr. and Mrs. Milton D. Feldman (Rae Friedman of Dayton)
visited their mother, Mrs. Thelma Feldman of Detroit. Dr. Feldman
was recently separated from the army after being in service four
years, two of which were spent in the Pacific area. Dr. and Mrs.
Feldman returned to Los Angeles where Dr. Feldman will continue
his post graduate course of study in dermatology.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Elbinger of London Ave. are on a two
weeks' visit in Charlevoix, Mich.
Mrs. Mark L. Berman and Mrs. Henry Green honored their
rtkece, Edith Stein, at a miscellaneous shower at the Lee Plaza Hotel.
Dr. and Mrs. Henry Green and their son Howard Lawrence
have left to spend the rest of the summer at Charlevoix, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Rapoport and daughter, Phyllis, of Brook-
lyn, N. y., and Mrs. Rose Senerman of Santiago, Chile, are visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. David Iwrey of Burlingame Ave. Mrs. Senerman,
sister of Mrs. Iwrey, and Joseph Rapoport of Philadelphia Ave.
have not seen each other for 30 years. Mrs. Senerman is here on
an extended visit from Chile.
Miss Belle Moskowitz of Blaine ave. has returned from Ann
Arbor where she attended the Institute on Hospital Pharmacy at
the University of Michigan. The course was sponsored by the
Michigan Hospital Association and the American College of Surgeons,
for hospital pharmacists.
Mrs. Albert A. Rabin has returned to her home in New York
City, having been the guest this past week of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron
Pregerson of Webb Ave.
Mrs. Aaron M. Pregerson and Mrs. David M. Bruss were
hostesses at a miscellaneous shower honoring Miss Pearl Bruss.
Dr. Leo Orecklin recently attended the convention of the
Atmerican Medical Association in San Francisco where he became
• diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. and Mrs. Michael M. Levin have moved into their new home
at 15780 Monte Vista.
Miss Sylvia Ruth Appel, who has been attending the University
3f Arizona in Tucson, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander

dress of pale peach taffeta, with

The couple were attended by
Shirley Victor as maid of honor,
and Irving Green, as best man.
National Lawyers Guild
Supports Jewish Rights
CLEVELAND — T h e National
Lawyers Guild unanimously adopt-
ed a Statement of Policy in Re-
gard to Jewish People at its
annual convention in Cleveland,
July 6. The statement, prepared
by the Commission on Law and
Social Action of the American
Jewish Congress, and presened by
Leo Pfeffer, demands recognition
by international law of three rights
of the Jewish people: the right of
haven in the United States; the
right to return to security in Euro-
pean homes; the right of entry
into Palestine.

Set for Red Feather
Drive Oct. 28-Nov. 13
A goal of $5,800,000 has been set
for the 1946 Red Feather Com-
munity Chest campaign, Walter
C. Laidlaw, campaign manager,
has announced.
The campaign on behalf of 125
local Red Feather services and
the USO will be conducted from
Oct. 28 tlarough Nov. 13, with
headquarters in the Book-Cadillac
hotel.

The only war-related activity
retained in this year's drive is the
USO, which is launching a lim-
ited final appeal to maintain es-
sential morale services on behalf
of the 1,500,000 men who will con -
stitute the U. S. Armed Forces in
1947.
USO has three major obliga-
tions to meet next year to com-
plete its task. It must provide en-
tertainment and - a "home away
from home" to the boys still in
service, to the boys still in hos-
pitals, and to the boys now in
training.
The ..ecommendations of the
goal committee have been ac-
cepted by the Community Chest
ex3cutive committee, headed by
Fred M. Butzel, and including
Henry Wineman.
