Mr. and Mrs. Julian G. Wolfner and their daughters, Isabel and
Nancy, have returned from a week's visit in New York.

Included among the out of town guests at the Bar Mitzvah
last Saturday of Donald Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Miller
of Pennington Dr., and at the consecration on Sunday of his cousin,
Marilyn Koffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred A. Koffman of
Philadelphia Ave., were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Koffman, Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Koffman, Mrs. Daniel Feldman and Mr. and Mrs.
Rubin Adelman of Bay City, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hoffman,
their daughter, Gretchen, and their son, Peter, of Iron Mountain,
Mich.

Mrs. Max H. Goldsmith was
re-elected president of the Sister-
hood of Northwest Hebrew Con-
gregation and Center at the
meeting on June 12 at the Bag-
ley School.
Besides Mrs. Goldsmith, of-
ficers who were- installed by Mrs.
David J. Cohen included:

PARIS (JTA) —A J e wish
teacher was arrested after the
discovery of a cache of 40 tons
of arms and ammunition in the
Chateau de Cambe, near Bor-
deaux, which was rented by the
ORT organization several months
ago as a Jewish agricultural
school.
Alexander Kavarsky, secretary
of the ORT, said that on June 2,
the day of the national elections
in France, several soldiers drove
up in army trucks and asked to
leave a large number of cases,
which they said contained med-
ical supplies. Two days latef
police investigated and discover-
ed the cases contained arms and
ammunition.

The officers, together with the
following, constitute the board of
directors: Mesdames Norman Al-
len, Dan Aidem, Joseph Beck,
Louis Berman, Ben Brodman, Al
Brook, Max Fineman, Zangwell
Garber, Barney Golden, Max Hai-
dy, Herbert Harris, Ben Levy,
Joseph Markel, Joseph Mehr,
David Miller, Alex Moss, Morris
Nosanchuk, Manny Lax, Sidney
Pozen, Albert Potiker, Malcolm
Rivkin, Abe Sacks, Morris Sin-
ger, David Taylor, Allan Waller
and Miss Michelle Tchor.
Mrs. Goldsmith gave her an-
nual report. The musical pro-
gram featured Jerry Speshevsky,
violinist, accompanied by Sally
Green at the piano; Gerry Swet-
kin, vocalist, accompanied by
Mrs. Ned Krause. Mrs. Ira Kauf-
man was in charge of the pro-
gram.

Jews Leave for Palestine
PRAGUE (JTA) — The first
group of Polish Jews to leave
for Palestine directly from Pol-
and since September 1939 passed
through Czechoslovakia this week.
The group consists of 105 emi-
grants.

Mrs. Louis Rosenzweig of Brooklyn, N. Y., and daughter,
Hortense Estelle, a junior at Chicago State Teachers College, are
visiting with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. M. Potok of
4110 Collingwood. During their visit here they also will be enter-
tained by Mr. and Mrs. J. Earnest.
Mr. and Mrs. Maynard W. Feldman (Betty Schnedman) are
now residing in their new home at 2022 Ewald Circle.
In honor of Miss Mitzi Levine, whose marriage to Marvin H.
Cornfield will take place Sept. 10, a bridal shower was given by
Mrs. A. Blumenthal and Mrs. S. Goldstein at the Book-Cadillac
Hotel on June 8.

Miss Frances Ruina of Brooklyn, N. Y. is spending a week
as the guest of her brother-in-law and sister,

of Pennington Dr. Mr. Kahn's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Milton Kahn, have returned to New York after spending the
last weekend with their family.

Dr. and Mrs. Otto Weiss of Broadstreet Blvd. had as their
guests last weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Mandell, Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Mandell of Cleveland, Dr. Elmer Schoenleben of Lansing,
and Capt. Woodrow W. Weiss, who is stationed at Camp McCoy,
Wis.
Miss Helen Grossfield of Farrand Park entertained a group
of her friends at a luncheon at the Statler Terrace room last Mon-
day in honor of Miss Anita Robinson, who is returning to her
home in Havana, Cuba, after spending the winter in Detroit.
Miss Paula Tyner, University of Michigan student, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. David L. Tyner of Warrington Dr., is home for the
summer months.
Miss Marilyn Lightstone is expected home on June 28 to spend
the vacation with her family at 18647 Hartwell. She is a student
at UCLA in Los Angeles.
Miss Irma N. Goldberg, June 16 bride-elect, was honored at
a series of parties. On April 27, a shower was given by her aunts,
Mrs. Morton Grass and Miss Ruth Davidson of San Francisco. A
shower was given May 1 at the Book Cadillac by Mesdames Jack
Segal, Oscar Gorelick and Morris Olshansky. The Misses Faye
Rosens, Elaine Messenger, Elaine Rubach, Evelyn Levine and Mrs.
Irving Winston honored Miss Goldberg at Huyler's on May 25. As
her final party, Miss Goldberg was given a shower at Hotel Statler
by her aunts, Mrs. William Bailies of Flint and Mrs. Irving Shevin
on June 8.
In honor of Dorothy Sue Stone, bride elect, many lovely affairs
have been given. Mrs. Morris Magy entertained at a luncheon at
the Book Cadillac. Mrs. George Glassman gave a kitchen shower
at her home on Fullerton. Mrs. Sol Stone entertained at her home
on Grand Avenue. Mrs. Albert Williams, Mrs. J. Topcik and Miss
Gertrude Stone gave a miscellaneous shower for 100 guests at
Huyler's. A kitchen shower was given at the Lee Plaza by Mrs.
Sam Fenton and Mrs. Ray Safferin. Mrs. Murry Hartz entertained
at a luncheon at the Canterbury House.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Pearlman will have open house on Sunday,
June 23, 3 to 5 ,p. m., in honor of the graduation of their daughter,
Helen Mae, from , Central High School. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Jordan spent the past week-end in
Cleveland, where they attended the confirmation of their niece,
Lois Ettayla Baden.
