The Jewish National Fund of
America this week received the
gift of two parcels of land in
Palestine, north of Haifa, from
Mendel and Gitel Jakubowicz of
15855 Northlawn.
Presentation of the deeds was
made on the occasion of the visit
in Detroit, to inaugurate the la-
bor Zionist J. N. F. drive, of
Mordecai Rudensky of the na-
tional office in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Jakubowicz
bought the lots while residents
in Poland, with the intention of
settling in Palestine. They later
settled in Danzig and were for-
tunate in coming to this country
J N F
in 1938, thus escaping possible
death under Nazi rule.
Their son, David, has just been
discharged from the Navy and
has resumed his studies at Wayne
University: The presentation was
made in his honor and in the
hope of early settlement of a
family or two by the J. N. F. on
the land thus acquired by the
agency which retains the soil it
redeems as the inalienable prop-
erty of the Jewish people.

David Jakubowicz, Mr. Ruden-
sky, Mrs. Irving Shevin, presi-
dent of the Ladies' Auxiliary of
the Jewish National Fund, and
William Hordes, president of the
Jewish National Fund Council
of Detroit.
Mr. Rudensky, accepting the
deed to the two Jakubowicz lots,
urged that others who own land
in Palestine should turn their
possessions over to the Jewish
National Fund. He stated that
David Freiberger, chairman of
the Zion Commonwealth, has an-
nounced that the Palestine office
will close soon and that it has
generally been urged that indi-
vidual owners turn their land
over to the agency, which makes
it the property of the entire
Jewish people.

Mr. Rudensky's Address
In his address to the gathering,
Mr. Rudensky reported on prog-
ress made by the Jewish Na-
tional Fund but deplored the
losses incurred by.. the Jewish
people in time and in accom-
plishments as a result of pre-
vious indifferences.
Mr. Rudensky pointed out that
even the outrageous action in
the elevation of Emil Adullah
to the position of King of Trans-
jordania has its lessons for Jews.
He recalled that Jews had a
chance to purchase land in Trans-
jordania and that Abdullah at
one time pleaded with Zionists
to come there, but that procras-
Masada Young Men's Zionist
Organization has contributed $150
to the Jewish National Fund and
has undertaken a program of ac-
tivity for land redemption in Pal-
estine for the coming year, Her-
shel Levin, treasurer, announced
this week.
"Masada, a young men's organ-
ization for men 21 years and up,
consists in the main of exGls
HERSHEL LEVIN
who, having seen the results of
Hitler's madness, know full well
that anything and everything
that they do to help their unfor-
tunate brethren enter Palestine is
a goal well worth fighting for,"
Mr. Levin said.
"The money contributed by
Masada is the beginning of its
campaign to consistently extend
its philanthropic wok for Pales-
tine, Many of Masada's members
who were in the European the-
ater realize that Europe has no
future for its Jews and their only
hope of survival is in Palestine."
Masada is a branch of the Na-
tional Young Men's Zionist Or-
ganization. The Detroit chapter
is headed by .Dr. Sam Krohn.
Since its inception six months
ago, Masada has grown to 60.
members and is at present mak-
ing plans for a membership rally
to be held in the near future.
Young men desiring further in-
formation about Masada are in-
vited to call Dr. Krohn at TO.
