of Edison Ave., has returned from Washington, D. C.,

in September.
Mrs. Oscar D. Schwartz and daughter, Ellen, are visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. M. Abrams of 307 Marlborough. Dr. 0. D. 'Schwartz
who served in the medical corps of the U. S. army as a lieutenant-
colonel, will return to Detroit from New York on June 1.
Among the kuests who attended the Sedorim at Kraemer's
Olympia Hotel, Mt. Clemens, were: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shewach
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Shiener and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Theodore Shore and family, Mrs. Mary Bankier, H. Goldfarb and
M. Goldfarb.
Dr. and Mrs. M. H. Marks of 2245 Edison will be at home on
.Sunday, from 5 to 9 p. m., in honor of the return from service,
after being hospitalized, of their brother, Maj. Leslie Caplan.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farbsten of Burlington Rd. have returned
from an extended stay in Palm Beach, Fla. .
Mrs. Lawrence Levi of Argyle Crescent Drive has returned from
a visit in Cincinnati.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor W. Klein of Stratford Rd. have as their
guest 'Mrs. Klein's sister, Mrs. John Friedman, and her son, Johnny,
of Chicago. ,
Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Wittelshofer of Boston Blvd. have as their
guests Mrs. Wittelshofer's sisters, Mrs. 0. D. Berwanger of Mt.
Vernon, N. Y., and Mrs. Arthur Katzenburg of Boston.
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Smith of Shresbury Rd. are expected
home this week-end from a few weeks' visit in Coranado Beach,
Calif.
The Misses Jeannette and Ruth Caplan of Whitmore Rd., Miss
Sarah Frazer of Dumbarton. Rd. and Miss Bertha Robinson of
Fullerton Ave. have returned from a motor trip to the Smoky
Mountains.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Marks and their son, Lee, of Broadstreet
Ave. accompanied by. Mrs. Mores Marks of the Belcrest Hotel and
Michael Fisher of Lakewood Ave., are spending the week in Oscoda,
Mich.
Mrs. Nathan Schlafer and her son, Richard, of Wildemere Ave.
are spending the week in New York City.
Mrs. Ralph Schiller, her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Wallace Roberts and their son, Wally, of Chicago Blvd. have re-
turned from Miami Beach, Fla., where they were guests for the
last two months at the Helen Mar Apt.
Miss Marilyn Lieberman of Birchcrest Ave. has as her guest
for a few days, Miss Thelma Landau of El Pasco, Tex., who is
enroute to New York City. The girls were room-mates at the Uni-
versity of Texas.
Mrs. Simon Kaplan of Roslyn Rd. has left for Dallas, Tex.,
where she will spend a month visiting with her brother and sister-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Burton M. Lieberman. From Dallas she will
go to Los Angeles, Calif., where she plans to make her home.
Mrs. 'Sidney Schott of Glynn Ct. is spending a few weeks in
New York City. '
Mr. and Mrs. J. Shurly Horwitz of Oak Drive are spending a
short time in Washington, D. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton H. Sims have moved from Whitmore Rd.
and are now residing at 19300 Hartwell Ave.
Mrs. Betty Lipton of Burlingame Ave. left on Monday for New
York City, where she plans to make her home with her son, James.
Mr: and Mrs. Charles Feinberg of Boston Blvd. left on Wednes-
day to spend a week in New York City and Philadelphia.
Mrs. E. L. Lamb has returned to her home in Chicago after a
week's visit with her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ettlin-
ger of Pennington Ate.
Mrs. Isadore Winkelman of Renfrew Rd. has returned from
a few weeks' stay in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leubusher have returned to their home
in Minneapolis after a short visit with Mrs. Leubusher's brother-in-
law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Schild of Wisconsin Ave. Her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Josph Stein, who recently arrived from Lon-
don, England, for an extended visit with their children, accompanied
them home and will return to Detroit at the end of June.
S. 2/c Marvin Jacobs, who is stationed at Camp Peary, Va., is
spending a 10-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris M.
Jacobs of Glynn Ct.
Mrs. Meyer Newman of W. Outer Dr. has returned from Lake-
land, Fla., where she spent the winter months.
Miss Maxine Finsterwald, whos play "On Whitman Avenue"
is currently playing at the Shubert Lafayette, is the house guest
of her brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. Leighton G. Steele
of Monterey Ave. Her sister, Mrs. Mordecai Ezekiel, who was in
4,, town for the opening, has returned to her home in Washington, D. C.
Mr. and Mrs. William Gershenson of Balmoral Dr. have returned
from a stay in their winter home in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Jordon has as week end guests their
neices, Miss Lois Boden of Cleveland and Miss Cecilia Helfer of

Dr. Kahn Marks 70th Birthday
NEW YORK, (JTA)—Dr. Bern-
hard Kahn, honorary chairman of
the European executive council
of the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee, who has been active in
Jewish life for more than 40
years, and under whose guid-
ance the JDC spent many mil-
lions of dollars to aid Jews in
Europe, celebrated his 70th birth-
day 'last week.

Soviets Permit Ben Gurion
in Romania for Zionist Mission

BUCHAREST, (JTA)—Soviet
authorities in Romania granted
an entry permit to David Ben
Gurion, chairman of the execut-
ive of the Jewish Agency, who
is now eri route from Palestine to
Paris. He will participate in the
conference of the Rumanian Zion-
ist Federation which will be held
here next month.
The Rumanian Government has
announced the restoration of all
rights and titles to Jacob Rosen-
thal, formerly in the Romanian
diplomatic service in Washington.
