Center Expanding Junior Program
To Provide for Children Under 14

With the appointment of Miss
Aviva Gootman as director of
Junior activities at the Jewish
Center, the junior program is be-
ing expanded to meet the needs
of boys and girls under 14.
Parents are urged to take out
mem'::erS1-.1.ips for their children.
The broad cultural, social and
recreational program furnishes an
opportunity for young people to
deg el ,Dp skills, friendships and
health. Of particular interest is
the D Ely Camp of the Center,
Camp Hobonim, for which regis-
tratbns will soon be announced.
This summer activity provides
a pro,7ram. of swimming, play-
ground, crafts, hikes ; photogra-
phy, dramatics, dancing, story
telling, .camp paper and games.
Quali3d counselors supervise the
day camp.
In the junior program children
are encouraged to take part in
dramatics, dancing, arts and
crafts, library, gym and swim-
ming. In arts and crafts, mem-.
bers do such things as weaving,
mod ling, drawing, painting,
_model crafts. The girls have an
oppoi tunity_ to learn modern
dance techniques. In the library,
the children have access to-books
of wide interest. -
A beginner's swimming class is

held every Monday and Wednes-
day at 5 p.m. under professional
supervision. Teams for the juniors
are organized and classes are held
every Monday and Wednesday,
5:3g- to 6 p.m. General recrea-
tional swims are held on these
days and on Sunday from 3:30 to
4 p.m.
The gym program includes box-
ing, wrestling, basketball, bad-
minton, games. The gym is open
to juniors on Monday, Wednes-
day and Sunday.
