NEW YORK—Some of the Nazi
state documents in the 'possession
of the Yiddish Scientific Institute
(YIVO) were sent to Nuremberg
at the request of Justice Robert
H. Jackson, U. S. chief of coun-
sel at the international tribunal
in Nuremberg. Copies of about
100 Nazi documents pertaining to
the life and death of the Jews in
the eastern European territories
under German occupation were
previously sent by the YIVO to
Justice Jackson. Of these, a num-
ber of originals, being held by
the YIVO, was requested to be
used against the Nazi defense.
These documents indicate the res-
ponsibility of Alfred Rosenberg
for the crimes against Jews in
the territory under his control.
Reproductions and English
translations of these and many
other Nazi secret state documents
will appear in a YIVO publica-
tion by Dr. Max Weinreich, en-
titled "Hitler's Professors: The
Part of Scholarship in Germany's
Crimes against the Jewish Peo-
ple." The book will be publish-
ed April 25.
