ZOA Demanding

Photo Exhibit Draws
Nation Wide Interest

World Congress
Be Held in States

for of the Council Against In-
tolerance, as part of its new vis-
ual education program.

New York public schools and
public libraries are circulating
the photographic exhibit, "The
NEW YORK (WNS) — A res- Jew in American Life", prepared
olution demanding that the forth- by James Waterman Wise, direc-
coming World Zionist Congress
be held in the U. S. instead of
in Palestine was adopted unani-
mously here at a meeting of the
National Administrative Council
of the Zionist Organization of
America, the ruling body be-
tween conventions.
Although no official statement
has Yet been issued by the ZOA,
it is believed that the sponsors
of the resolution convincingly
argued that if the World Zion-
ist Congress is held in the U. S.
it would have the effect of de-
' cisively swinging American pub-
lic opinion in favor of a Jewish
Palestine.
Declaring that "the primary
aim of our movement in this
hour is the establishment of a
free and democratic Jewish Com-
monwealth in Palestine," the
Declaration, issued over the sig-
nature of Dr. Abba Hillel Silver,
president of the organization,
urges that "all party and group
considerations must be subordi-
nated" to this aim.

The exhibit, which consists of
25 placards, also is being shown
widely throughout the country.
It is now on display in many
cities.

Corner. Stone Placed
For Habonim Center
At ,Naame, Palestine

Habonim in America is jubi-
lant at the news that the corner
stone for Bet Habonim has been
laid at Naame, Palestine.
In 1939 the first group of Ha-
bonim chalutzim joined with
similar groups from other coun-
tries to found the first Habonim
Kibbutz at Naame, in Upper Gal-
ilee, which became the center for
Habonim movements all over the
world. Naame also has been the
recipient for the recent arrivals
of chalutzim from Habonim of
America, England, Africa, Aus-
tralia and India.
Bet Habonim plans include a
large library, housing for the Ha-
bonim Archives, and a music
room. A large auditorium with
a seating capacity of 3,000 also
is to be built.
An a m p h itheater also is
planned. A hostel, class and study
rooms, recreation room and fa-
cilities and office will complete
the plans.
The Bet Habonim school will be
attended by Habonim from every
country who will come to partici-
pate in this international Labor
Zionist Youth seminar. Plans for
the fall semester of 1947 are un-
der way.
On Sunday, April 17, Detroit
Habonim presents its annual
Third Seder at the Jewish Center.
The proceeds from this affair will
go to help in the completion of
Bet Habonim. A guest speaker
from Palestine _ , ,a short film on
Naame, and a 'presentation by
Habonim will complete the pro-
gram. Tickets may be obtained
