200 Cunningham Workers
Await Results of Exam
In Cosmetic Salesmanship
Two hundred cosmetic person-
nel of Cunningham's Drug Stores
are awaiting results of their final
examination after an eight-Week
training course on cosmetic sell-
ing.
The course was sponsored by
Beauty Fashion Magazine under
the direction of Editor Elmer
Sheets, who conceived the idea of
standardizing cosmetic salesman-
ship.
The girls, employed in Cunn-
ingham's Stores throughout the
state, took their final exam at the
Fort Shelby Hotel and later were
guests of Cunningham's for buffet
luncheon in the Spanish Room Of
the hotel.
Tests are being monitored by
the editorial staff of Beauty
Fashion Magazine in New York.
Within the next few weeks, the
girls will receive the results. A
passing grade will warrant each
successful participant a certificate
of graduation from the Beauty
Fashion School of Cosmetics.
A complete Easter outfit from
exclusive Detroit shops will be
awarded to the girl with the high-
est grade. Additional prizes also
will be offered.
Cunningham's is planning to
make this an annual course for
all cosmetic employes.

Thou hast made him a
little lower than the angels"
(Psalms 8:5)
Undaunted the human spirit soared
the unknown
To read its lofty peaks
Aspiration lent its wings, but seared
by infinity
Its pinions solved in the fiery blast
of 'spheres.
Like Icarus to the very depths of
gloom it plunged and sank.
There to lie vanquished and impotent
in a math of dust.
While inevitable Immanence pointed
its finger of division
At a fallen Angel.
Oh, many are the fallen angels
Who uncravn dared to lift the veil.
From the mysteries of Isis,
To find the ruins in shattered hopes.
But Phoenix-like the spirit rose from
its ashes,
Rejuvenated to other trials,
To endless trials and other failures;
With unyielding determination to
wrest the power
From the grasp of Existence.
Human Spirit relinquish not thy
struggle,
Resume the fight against the puppetry
of Being.
Grapple with this shadow-harlequin,
Which pulls the strings
In the comedy of Illusion.
Human spirit thou art one with
destiny.
Whose arrogance can never thwart
them;
And thus, Fallen Angel, rise once
more,
Scale the heights, though a million
times
Thou shouldst fail art thou not
One with All, and litlte less than God?

Bredshall, Kottler
In Guild Concert
In one of the season's musical
highlights, next Wednesday eve-
ning • at the Lecture Hall of the
Detroit Institute of Arts, Edward
Bredshall and Mischa Kottler will
play a group of two-piano ar-
rangements for the fourth sub-
scription concert of the Detroit
Music Guild.
Once postponed, this concert
has aroused wide attention in mu-
sical circles because of the pre-
eminence of the artists. A full
capacity attendance is expected
since only standing room is avail-
able.
The program selected is de-
signed to display the virtuosity of
these outstanding local pianists
and to provide an evening of great
musical interest for the audience.
Mr. Bredshall and Mr. Kottler
will play Schuman Andante and
Variations, Chopin Rondo in C
Major, Debussy En' Blanc et Noir
and the Suite No. 2 by Rachman-
inoff.
The final concert on the Detroit
Music Guild subscription series
will be held on April 24 as orig-
inally scheduled.
