The purpose of the Women's
Division is to help broaden the
field of educational activities, as
well as assist in the erection of a
new Center to house all Sholom
Aleichem activities, including a
school for Jewish girls and boys.
A lecture on "Cultural Import-
ance of the Study of Yiddish,"
will be given Saturday by Prof.
H. A. Basilius, dean of laguages
at Wayne University.
Friends and associates are in-
vited.

of Pioneer Women's Organiza-
tions will hold its annual card
party Sunday evening at the Rose
Sittig Cohen Building, 13326 Law-
ton. Members, friends and their
husbands are invited. Proceeds
will be used for the Child Hous-
ing Project for the refugee chil-
dren in Palestine. Refreshments
will be served.

held its 15th annual formal initia-
tion at Latin Quarter last Sun-
day. Wayne University students
being initiated were: Ethel Fried-
man, Frances Koshar, Ada Kob-

man, Bernice Pergament, Edith
Gurevitch and Marian Berman.

MAIMONIDES MEDICAL
SOCIETY will meet Saturday at
the home of Mrs. Louis M. Har-
ley, 17325 Fairfield. The meet-
ing will be preceded by a lunch:

served in the War Bond Booth
in the Maccabees Bldg. main-
tained by the Auxiliary under
the leadership of Mrs. Ezra Lip-
kin. From June 1943 through
December 1945 they sold in the,
neighborhood of $1,750,000 worth
of war bonds. A program has
been arranged by. Mrs. Leo
Orecklin, program chairman.
This will be a talk by Miss Har-
riet Harwood, of WWJ, who will
present a review on current
books. . Hostesses for the after-

old linen, sheets, white shirts and
other articles suitable for making
cancer pads and -bed jackets for
cancer patients. This is a continu-
ance of the work the club has been
doing for AWVS during the last

Ezra Votes Second
$1,000 to Adopt
3 War Orphans
Purim to Be Keynote of Meetings
Of Hadassah Groups During March
Ezra, Women's Division of the
Federation of Polish Jews, meet-
ing last Tuesday at the home of
Mrs. A. Weisgross on Fullerton
Ave., voted a second $1,000 for
the adoption of three war or-
phans, This makes a total of six
orphans now being cared for by
Ezra. Members are correspond-
ing with the children and plans
are being made to send them
gifts.
Dr. Arnold Grossfield, execu-
tive director of the Federation of
Polish Jews in New York, as
guest speaker, stressed the des-
perate needs of the war stricken
Jews and told of immediate plans
for their relief. He praised the
work of the Women's' Division.
Mrs. Michelson, chairman of the
clothing drive, urges members to
participate in the volunteer work
of the organization.
SISTERS OF ZION MIZRACHI
are sponsoring a Purim party
next Wednesday at 12:30 p. m. at
Rosenberg's Catering on .Dexter.
M. Morton Rubenstein, Orthodox
JNF leader, will speak. Members
are urged to bring sholoch monos
for European Jews in the form of
canned food, first aid supplies and
infants wear. On May 19 the
Sisters of Zion Mizrachi and the
Young Women's Mizrachi, com-
bined with the three Junior De-
troit Mizrachi groups will hold
a mothers and daughters dinner
at the Jewish Center. Contribu-
tors to the Child Rescue Fund are

JEWISH WOMEN'S DIVISION
OF EUROPEAN WELFARE OR-
GANIZATION will hold a special
meeting at 1 p. m. Monday at
Bnai Moshe, Dexter and Law-
rence. Reports will be heard in
behalf of an application for a
ticket to bring a refugee orphan
from France and aid to orphans.
Checks will be sent to Palestine
orphans. Election of officers also
will be held.
Purim will be the keynote of
Hadassah's March group meet-
ings to be devoted specifically to
Palestine Supplies and Child
Welfare.
On Tuesday, March 12, at 12:30,
the Central Group , will =serve
luncheon at the Shaarey Zedek
for - 39 cents, which represents the
cost of three child welfare lunch-
eons served free every day, to
thousands of school children in
Palestine. The program, arranged
by Mrs. Julian Tobias, program
chairman, and Mrs. Saul Benyas,
vice: president in' charge of fund
raising, will include a fashion
show of garments made by the
Palestine Supplies Committee,
modeled by children of group
members; vocal selections by
Miss Mildred Benyas, accompa-
nied by Msr. Leslie Schrnier;
brief talk by Dr. Beryl Fenton,
recently returned from Palestine,
where he visited the Rothschild-
Hadassah University Hospital.

The same day at 1 p. m. at the
Rose Sittig Cohen Auditorium,
Russell Woods group will enter-
tain at a luncheon of the type

dren, for which members will
pay 26 cents.
Plans are in charge of Mrs.
M. J. Greenberg, vice-president.
There will be a fashion show,
with members' children acting as
models. Community singing, led
by Miss Drora Selesny, current
events and a playlet, "A Two-
Fold Celebration," will be on the
program, arranged by Mrs. Jack
V. Diamond, program chairman,
and Mrs. Arthur Weber, Pales-
tine supplies chairman.
University Group will meet on
Purim, Sunday, March 17, at 1
p. m., at Webster Hall, in the
form of a children's party. Moth-
ers are invited to bring their chil-
dren from Sunday School for
luncheon and an afternoon of
special entertainment, planned
by Mrs. Alfred Mayers, chairman
of the day. Besides receiving
prizes and favors, the children
will be entertained with Roth
and Berdun's juvenile dancers,
movies and a magician. Products
of the Palestine Supplies Com-
mittee will be on display. Res-
