ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mrs. Rose Lipson of Merton Rd. has returned from Boston and
New York City where she spent the last six weeks visiting •with
members of her family.
Lt. and Mrs. Sol Lindenbaum (Dorothy Wolk) and daughter,
Joan, are visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Wolk of
Wildemere Ave. Lt. Lindenbaum is on terminal leave.
Leonard Gene Brickner of Cleveland and Oklahoma City was
the guest of Kopel R. Rubiner the past week-end.
Maj. Peter A. Martin, M.C., has completed his terminal leave
and is residing with his wife and daughter, Arlene Carol, at 2245
Atkinson. Maj. Martin served .31/2 years with the 104th Infantry
Division as Division Psychiatrist and spent a year with the ETO,
receiving the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
Leonard Gene Brickner of Cleveland and Oklahoma City
was the guest of Kopel R. Rubiner the past week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Kaminsky and daughter, Gerry, of 3815
Buena Vista, left for Washington, D. C., where they will attend
the wedding of Emmanuel Sulkes of Detroit to Miss Jean Caplan,
of Washington. They will also visit with relatives in Philadelphia,
Pa., and Freehold, N. J."
Capt. Joseph G. Gilbert is back on terminal leave after foul
years' service in the USAAF, 28 months of which he spent in the
ETO. He and his wife, the former Shyrle Imber, are making their
home for the present with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin
Imber, of Fairfield Ave.
Capt. Harry Muller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Muller of 2280
Highland, is on terminal leave from the army after serving three
years in Italy with the Dental Corps. He is a graduate of the U. of
D. Dental School.
Maynard M. Feldman has recently been discharged from the
army after 48 months of service. Mr. and Mrs. Feldman (Betty
Schnedman) are at home at 1929 Elmhurst.
Dr. and Mrs. Louis E. Kamin of Elmhurst Ave. were hosts to
nine couples at a dinner on Sunday evening at their home.
Pvt. Sheldon N. Capp has returned to Fort Sheridan after
spending Sunday, Jan. 13, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Capp of Calvert Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. David Miller and family were hosts for the past
two weeks to Sgt. Harry Rosen, Navy Specialist 2/c, who has just
returned from Iwo Jima after three years of service in the armed
forces, and to Hy Rosen, who returned from service with the
armed forces.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Radding will hold open house at 17196
Birwood, Sunday ; Jan. 20, from 1 p. m., in honor of the return of
their son, Eugene, from military service. All friends are invited.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Newman of Canterbury Rd. left on Mon-
day for Hollywood, Fla., where they will spend a few weeks visit-
ing Mrs. Newman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Rosenthal.
Mrs. William H. Frank and her daughter, Ruth of Wildemere
Ave., are planning to leave this week-end for a short stay in New
York City.
Cmdr. Thomas Marwil, who has served with the U. S. Navy
Medical Corps., is now on Terminal leave and is. at home with Mrs.
Marwil.and their son, Brand, in their home at 16170 LaSalle Blvd.
Mrs. Joseph Burak of Longfellow Ave. has returned from a
few weeks' stay in Hollywood, Fla. She was accompanied by her
daughter, Betty, and son, William, who has recently received his
discharge from the U. S. army.

Fla., is spending a fortnight's leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Hartman of Chicago Blvd.

Six, central governing body of
JDA. Mr. Waterman succeeds
A. C. Horn, who recently re-
tired.
The Joint Defense Appeal is
the financial arm of the Ameri-
can Jewish Committee and the
Anti-Defamation League of Bnai
Brith.

Fredman's 'Brothers in Arms'
Dedicated to Servicemen
"Brothers in Arms," a 48-page
brochure by J. George Fredman,
published by the Jewish War
Veterans of the U. S., 276 Fifth
Ave., New York, tells a series of
stories of Jewish servicemen and
describes the comradship of the
men and women in the armed
forces. One of the chapters deals
with "The Chaplain Shows the
Way." The brochure is dedi-
cated to the 12,000,000 Americans
and the 600,000 Jews in the
armed forces.
