IN SOCIETY
The Misses Diana Gordon and Leona Levenson have returned
from a week's stay at Hotel Pennsylvania, New York.

Mrs. Albert Davis of Euclid Ave. has left for an extended visit
with her family in San Bernardine, Calif.
Lt. Stuart P. Greene, who has been in service for three years,
including one year in the ETO, has received his discharge and is
at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Greene of Oak Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Blumrosen of Lincoln Park are spending
110 days in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Stone of LaSalle Blvd. are spending the
winter months in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and 'Mrs. George Seligman and their small daughter, Karen,
have moved from Cherrylawn Ave. and are for the present resid-
ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hartman of Edison Ave.
Miss Frieda Rosenthal of W. Dakota Ave. Ieft on Sunday to
spend a fortnight in Mexico. Her mother, Mrs. Rose Rosenthal,
is visiting her sister, Mrs. L. M. Bernstein of Chicago.
Mrs. Emanuel J. Harris of Gloucester Rd. has returned from a
short stay in New York City.
Mrs. Max Engelman of Elmhurst Ave.. left last Monday for
Los Angeles, where she plans to remain for six months.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Oppenheim of Whitmore Rd. are expect-
ed home this week-end from a fortnight's stay in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. David Penfil of Calvert Ave. spent the last week-
end in Chicago where they visited with their son, App/S Gerald
Penfil, who is stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Saul J. Harris of the Belcrest Hotel have left
for a vacation in Miami Beach.
T/5 Edward Borkin, who has been in service for 39 months,
including 18 months in the Pacific area, has received his discharge
and is now at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Ovson
of Chicago Blvd.
Harry Jacobson of the Wilshire Hotel is spending several weeks
in Hollywood Beach, Fla.
Sgt. Jack M. Berke, who has been in service for two years, in-
cluding 1 1/2 years in the Pacific area, has received his discharge
and is now at home with Mrs. Berke and their children, Rodney
and Sheila, in their home on Waverly Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Weisman and their son, Ascher, of Cal-
vert Ave. are spending a few weeks in Miami Beach, Fla.
Pfc. Alex Dorfman, who has been in service for 23 months,
including 1 1h years in the Pacific area, has received his discharge
and is now at home with Mrs. Dorfman and their children, Sammy
and Marleen, in their home on Calvert Ave.
Chief Petty Officer Herman Fishman, who has served with
the U. S. Navy for 45 months, including 10 months in China, has
received his discharge and is now at home with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Morris Fishman of Cortland Ave. His brother Lt. (j.g.)
Milton Fishman, who served in the Navy for 2 1/2 years, including
19 months in -.the Pacific, has also received his discharge and is
now at home with his wife, at the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Nathan Schreiber of Linwood Ave.
Capt. Meyer Stamell, who has served with the U. S. Army
Medical Corps for three years, including 1 1/2 years in the ETO, has
received his discharge and is now at home with Mrs. Stamell and
their three small children in their home on Calvert Ave. Dr. Stam i -
ell has resumed his practice at 8503 Hamilton Ave.
Marriages
BRITMAN-SHAPIRO: Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Shapiro of Cortland
Ave. announce the marriage of
their daughter, Sylvia Shirley, to
Ben Britman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. Britman of Broadstreet.
The ceremony took place Jan.
6 at Hotel Belcrest. The bride
was given in marriage by her
father, Paul Shapiro.
Mrs. Michael Alpern of East
Liverpool, 0., was her sister's
maid of honor.
Julius Britman was his broth-
er's best man. Harry Shapiro and
Harold Weiss and Charles Kief
seated the guests.
The bridesmaids were Mrs.
Peggy Cooper, Mrs. Harry Sha-
piro, Mrs. Charles Kief and Mrs.
Harold Weiss.
Miss Goldie Britman, sister of
the bridegroom, was junior
bridesmaid.
Mrs. Joseph Rich was matron
of honor.
Miss Beatrice Rich was flower
girl.
Dinner followed the ceremony
and later in the evening there
was a reception for 150 guests
and dancing to the music of Dave
Diamond's Band.
The newlyweds have left for a
trip to New York and will make
their home in Detroit.

SUBIA-DREIFUSS—The mar-
riage of Miss Bettina Dreifuss,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. Mau-
rice Driefuss, to John Subia, was
solemnized Jan. 9 at the home of
the bride's parents on Indiana
Ave. Rabbi Benedict B. Glazer
of Temple Beth El officiated.
Miss Marcia Glasser, the bride's
roommate at Michigan State Col-
lege, was maid of honor, and
Max Ungar was best man. After
a short honeymoon trip the cou-
ple will reside on Indiana Ave.

HOFF-DATER: Miss Sara Dat-
er, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.
Rothstein, and Morris Hoff, son
of Mr. and Mrs. M, Hoff, were
united in marriage on Sunday,
Jan. 13, at Pereira's. Rev. H.
Schulsinger officiated. A dinner
followed the ceremony.
Zelda Greenberg attended the
bride as maid of honor. Sam
Hoff, the bridegroom's brother,
was best man.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoff left by
plane for New York after the
wedding.

EDEN-SEGALL: The marriage
of Miss Naomi Judith Segall,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.' Solo-
mon Segall of New Orleans, and
Morton A. Eden, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Adimoff of Elec-
tric Ave., Port Huron, was sol-
emnized on Dec. 29 at the bride's
home.
Rabbi Nathaniel Share of Con-
gregation Gates of Prayers, New
Orleans, officiated at the mar-
riage ceremony. The bride and
bridegroom were attended by
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Segall,
brother and sister-in-law of the
bride.
The bride was graduated from
Newcomb College, New Orleans.
The bridegroom was graduated
from Port Huron High School
and the University of Michigan
where he received his B.A. de-
greP., He recently completed his
military service and has returned
to civilian life.
Mr. and Mrs. Eden are mak-
ing their residence in Detroit.
MISS LILLIAN DESOW
Hyman Desow of Detroit an-
nounces the forthcoming mar-
riage of his daughter, Lillian, to
Jack I. Fishbein, editor and as-
sociate publisher of the Sentinel
of Chicago, Ill.
Miss Desow, illustrator, has
studied at the Cranbrook Acad-
emy of Arts in Bloomfield Hills,
Mich., and has exhibited at the
Detroit Institute of Art and Cran-
'brook Academy. She has also
held an exhibition at the Detroit
Jewish Community Center,
where she was part of a three-
artist show.
The wedding will take place
on Jan. 20, at the home of Rabbi
Morris Teller of Chicago. A
wedding breakfast for the im-
mediate family will follow at the
Windemere East Hotel. From 3
to 10 p. m., the young couple
will hold open house at 4538
Drexel blvd., Chicago.
