An attempt by the Arab states to "bottle up"

soon be announced publicly, it has been
learned in reliable circles in Cairo. This con-
firms • reports by the newspaper Al Ahram's
London correspondents that visas will be re-
fused in order "to stifle Palestine Jewish in-
dustry, this being the only weapon the Arabs
can use at present to prevent the modification
of the White Paper." The proposal was sub-
mitted by the Palestine delegates to the Arab
League here, which approved it but did not
ratify it officially. Ratification may be in-
cluded in the final programs for the League
boycott on Jewish goods to be announced in
January. The Egyptian Minister , of Finance -
has ordered an immediate statistical survey
to establish the categories and quantity of
Palestine goods imported by Egypt.
The London . Times' - Berlin correspondent
reports that Jewish refugees, many of them
veterans of the Polish liberation army which
was formed on Russian soil, now streaming
into Berlin daily in flight from pogroms in
their native land, describe life for Jews in
Poland as "impossible," because of the acute
anti-Semitism. there. All of them absolve the
•Warsaw Government of any responsibility for
the pogroms which, they say, it is powerless
to stop. The refugees declare they would
rather risk the severe winter in Germany
than return to their homes in Poland. Reports
from other British correspondents in Berlin
corroborate the Times dispatch.

PALESTINE

Edwin Samuel, director of the Palestine
Broadcasting System, announced at a press
conference in Tel Aviv the installation of a
new medium wave transmitter for the Jeru-
alem radio beginning in a few days, and the
extension of Hebrew programs from 24 hours
to 35 hours weekly. Joseph Heftman, speaking
for the Jewish Journalists' Association, asked
Samuel to transmit to his father, Lord. Her-
bert Samuel, on behalf of the Palestine press,
thanks for his speech in support of the Jewish
Palestine cause in the House of Commons last
week.

stated in his letter that he cannot continue to
serve under a policy repudiating Britain's
obligations to the Jews.
