Plan New Year's Day Wedding
ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Mrs. Myer Saferstein of 18290 Northlawn 'was hostess at a
luncheon honoring Ann. Fox of Montreal, Canada.
_ Mr. and Mrs. Ben Levinson of Woodingham Drive were hosts
on Oct. 3 at a dinner at the Terrace room at. the Statler Hotel,
honoring the new baseball commissioner Senator A. .B. Chandler
and his family Of Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Levinson were guests
of the Senator. for the. World. Series.
Mrs. Max Goodman of Glynn Ct. is spending two weeks in
Denver_ with her son and daughter-in-law, Sgt: and Mrs. Arthur
Goodman.
Mr. and Mrs. -Sol Ressler of Hazelwood Ave. have returned
from a 10-day trip, in New York and New Jersey where they
visited friends and relatives.
Miss Sylvia Goldstein, whose marriage to Lt.. Leo Zifkin took
place on Sept. 30, was entertained at a shower on Sept. 26, by Mrs.
Chaites Rogers at her home on Leslie Ave.
.- Mr. and' Mrs. Joseph S. Rodd and children have moved from
their home on Fullerton Ave. to Alliance, 0., where they will
make their residence.
Capt. Luis Perelman, husband of Theodora Aronstam-Perel-
man, has been promoted to the rank of Major in the Army Medical
Corps.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Krouse of 16915 Normandy will hold open
house from 2 to 5 Sunday, Oct. 21, to celebrate their 15th wedding
anniversary. No cards.
In honor of the 17th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Leo
Drapkin of 2468 LeBelle, which was observed on Oct. 3, Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Drapkin honored them at a dinner on Sunday at their

Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Singer, of Santa Barbara Dr. will have
open house for family and friends on Sunday, Oct. 14, a to 12 p. m.,
on the occasion of the engagement of their daughter, Lorraine
Frances, to Louis James Kiavons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert

Miss 'Nancy Schiller, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Schiller
of 1951 Chicago, returned on Monday from Madison, Wis., , where
She was the week-end guest of Miss Barbara Prentis.
Mrs. Marvin Lorange returned to her home in Cleveland after
a week's visit with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr.. and Mrs..

- Cpl. S. Miller Weisman, who recently returned from 2% years
in the Aleutian Islands and Alaska, is spending his 45-day- fur-
lough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Weisman. of Suffolk
Dr., before reporting to Shepard Field, Tex.
. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Einstein of the Lee_ Plaza. Apt. have re-
turned from Catanning, Pa., where they visited with Mr. Einstein's
father on the occasion of his 80th birthday. • -
Mrs. Melville Welt of Balmoral Rd. has returned - from the east
Where she visited her children, Mr.. and Mrs. Robert Smith of
Connecticut and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Pope of Long Island.

their return this summer from Gaineville, Fla., where. Maj. August
was stationed, are now in their ,own home in Huntington Woods.
Miss Alice Vass of the Wilshire Hotel left last week for Boston

Peter Vass, who . accompanied her for a few days stay; has returned .

SM 1/c Edmund B. Linx Jr., who has served with the U.S.
Navy for the last 4 1/2 years, has received his discharge and is now
at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edmund B. Linx of Byron
Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew B. Lorre and their small son, Larry, of
Kentucky Ave. have returned home after spending the summer
months at Lake Orion. .
Sgt. T/3 Elliot Lip-ion, who recently returned from 14 months
in the ETO, has received his discharge and is at horne with his
wife and small son at- the home of her parents, Mr .and Mrss. Bern-
ard Gordon of Parkside Ave. He, is the son of Mrs. Rose Lipton .
of Merton Rd.
Cpl. Henry_Sills, who served several years with the U.S. Army,
has received his discharge and is now at home with his mother,
Mrs. Sidney Silverman of Burlingame Ave.
Pvt. Sanford D. Schaefer,*who recently returned from 16 months
in the .ETO, is spending his 45-day furlough with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Morris Schaefer of Rochester Ave., before reporting to
Camp Lee, Va. His • brother, Richard, left Monday for Chicago
where he will attend the Northern Illinois School of Optometry.
Lt. Ralph: Bernstein; who has been with the Armed •Forces for
40 months, 13: of which he spent in Alaska, has received his dis-
charge and is now at home with his father, David Bernstein, and
his sister, 'Mildred, of Tyler Ave.
T/Cpl. Daniel Keidan, who recently returned from two years
in the ETC), spent a week here visiting with his family. His parents;
Mr: and Mrs. Max Keidan of Madison, Wis., spent a few days
here with him. T/Cpl. Keidan will report to Camp MCCoy; Wis.,
upon the completion of his 30-day furlough.
Mr. and .Mrs. bavid Konheim and their small daughter haVe
moved from Hartwell Ave. and are :now residing in their new

Cpl.' Abner R. Friedman, - who recently returned from two years
service in Edmonton; Alberta, is spending. his 45-day furlough with
his father, Henry Friedinan, and his brother-in-law and sister, Mr,
and Mrs. Jerome Solomon of Edison. Ave., before 'reporting to
Romulus Air Field. -
Dr. and -Mrs. Harry Kohn of Calvert Ave. plan to attend the
graduation of their .daughter, Janet Merle, from the University of •
Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Miss Rita Felstein of New York City is the guest - of her
brother and sister-in-law, Maj. and Mrs. Harold Feldstein of Prest
