Named Field Director
Of United Synagogue
Petty Officer First Class Seymour Horowitz, on leave from the
South Pacific Area, together with Mrs. Horowitz, were the guests
of his mother, Mrs. Ruth Horowitz, and his family the past week.
He returned to Seattle, Wash., for further assignment.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Bernstein of 2400 W. Boston Blvd. re-
turned from a visit of several days in Chicago. Accompanied by
their daughter, Miriam, and son, Marvin, they stayed at . the
Stevens Hotel. .
Sheldon M. LaBret has returned to Gordon Military College,.
Georgia, after spending the summer with his family in Charlevoix,
Mich.

Dr. Karl I. Stillwater, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Stillwater
of Elmhurst Ave., was graduated from the Indiana UniVersity .
School of Medicine, Bloomington, Ind, on Aug. 19. He was elected
to- .Alpha Omega Alpha, national medical honor society. Dr. Still-
water is married to the former Fraida Joy Lightstone of Seward Ave.
Lt. Hirsh. A. Brown, brother of Rabbi Jacob M. Brown, has
recently promoted to, the rank of Captain. Capt. Brown is
Stationed at Fort Mason, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Horwitz of Warrington Drive have returned
from a two weekc. ?lay at Rantona Park Hotel, Harbor Springs, and
Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island. -- •
Dr. and Mrs. Milton Silverman, formerly of Detroit, will spend
the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Silverman of
Buena Vista Ave. •
Mr. and Mrs. David A. Goldman and daughter, Paula Ruth,
have returned from a vacation at Sleepy Hollow Beach _ , South
Haven, Mich.
Miss Bernice Newton and Miss Bernice Rosenbaum, who were
counselors at Camp Berkshire Hills, Conn., this summer, have re-
turned to their homes.

resentative Samuel Dickstein
(D., N.Y.) and Henry Clay
Greenberg, have been nominat-
ed as the Democratic capdidates
for Supreme Court Justices of
the First Judicial District of
New York City, to succeed re-
tiring Justices Irwin Untermeyer
and Isidor Wasservogel. The first
District includes the boroughs of
Manhattan and the Bronx.
Cedarhurst, Long Island. In 1944
and 1945 he was director of ' the
midwest office of the- Seminary
and of the Counsel of Conserva-
tive Syangogues in Chicago. In
1937 and 1938 he was national
president of Aleph Zatlik Aleph,
Junior Order of Bnai Brith. At
the Jewish Theological Seminary
he was president of the Student
Body of the Rabbinical School.
