Young Israel Scouts
Plan 6 Day Hike in
Jewish Tradition

Plans for a six-day hike
and encampment to be held dur-
ing August by Troop 210, the
Young Israel Boy Scouts, are
announced by Solomon B.
Cohen, Scoutmaster, and Joseph
Grossman, chairman of the troop
committee.
In addition to affording an
opportunity for practical appli-
cation of the scouting, camping
and woodcraft studies, the en-
carhpment will be utilized to
place emphasis on a positive ex-
perience in Jewish communal
living. The camp program has
been designed to provide for
prayer services; classes in Jew-
ish history, laws and traditions
and practical Jewish activities.
The scouts' cooking equipment
will include separate kits for
meat and dairy meals, under the
supervision of Scoutmaster
Cohen and two adults from the
troop committee.
Scoutmasters Cohen and Gross-
man formally were installed to-
gether with committee mem-
bers, Abbe A. Levi, Dr. Hugo
, Mandelbaum and Dr. Moses
Wiser, at the father-son dinner
of Young Israel, June 18, at
Lachar's. Seven new scouts were
inducted and several were pro-
moted.
General Eisenhower medals
were distributed to the scouts
who had participated in the re-
cent paper salvage' drive, during
which 1,000 pounds of paper was
gathered by. each scout.
