20 Shaarey Zedek 12th Grade Graduates
To Receive Their Diplomas on Saturday

Graduation exercises for the 12th grade stu-
dents of Congregation Shaarey Zedek will be
held this Saturday morning, June 9, during
Sabbath services.
Opening with greetings by Simha Rubinstein,
educational director of Shaarey Zedek, the pro-
gram will include the following:
A talk on "The Challenge of the Day" by
Lauretta Knopper.
Remarks on Ethics of the Fathers by Ideanne
Levenson, Judith Levin and Bunny Zemon.
Discussion of "The Two Problems: Jewish
Education and Palestine," by Miriam Levin and
Sherwin Wine.
The singing of the graduation hymn, Cantor
J. H. Sonenklar leading the class.
Marvin Jacobs will present the class gift.
Shirley Wolstein, class president, will give the
"II: Farewell" talk.
After remarks by Dr. A. M. Hershman, di-
plomas will be presented by Harry Cohen,
NW Hebrew Cong.

Curtis Ave., two blocks west of

David D. Miller, chairman of
the religious school committee,
has announced that a large num-
ber of children have been en-
rolled for the 1945-46 term of
the Sunday School and the
daily Hebrew School which is
being conducted by the United
Hebrew Schools in cooperation
with the Congregation.
Sabbath services are conducted
every Saturday at 9 a. m. at the
Bagley School, Greenlawn and
Curtis.

they have "nothing to return to,"
thousands of Jewish soldiers of
the Polish Army, liberated from
German 'prison camps, declared
that they will remain in Ger-
many to await opportunities to
migrate to Palestine and other
countries, rather than return to
Poland where their families were
murdered and their homes des-
troyed.

Closing Exercises
Held at Mt. Sinai;
Hold Picnic June 17
Closing exercises at Mt. Sinai
Sunday and Hebrew School of
Port Huron were held Jufle 3.
Reports were given by Dr.
Selig S. Auerbach who lauded
the 100 percent enrollment, and
by the teachers.
Jule J. Levy, president of the
congregation, and Louis Goldman,
superintendent of the Sunday
School, addressed the children
and thanked the rabbi and fac-
ulty for their devotion and
achievement.
Mrs. Ivan Hunter, president of
the sisterhood, greeted the as-
sembly and presented teachers
with gifts. Stuart Winkelman,
secretary-treasurer of the school,
gave a report.
It was decided that half of the
Keren Ami money be contributed
to Percy Jones Hospital and the
other half for refugee children
in Pllestine.
Helen Kertes was awarded the
attendance prize, and Ben Field
presented the congregation with
an American flag for the recrea-
tion hall.
The Sunday School picnic will
be held June 17. Ellen Goldman
is chairman of the committee on
arrangements.
Rabbi Auerbach gave the
Memorial Prayer at the memorial
services of the Blue Star Moth-
ers and War Dads.
Young Israel Forms
3 New Youth Groups
Young Israel has begun the
expansion of its youth group
program with the formation of
several new groups and classes.
A group of girls, 9 to 11, which
will meet at the homes of the
members, until the Young Israel's
center is erected, will have its
first meeting this Saturday at the
home of Phyllis Gellman, 2507
W. Buena Vista, under the lead-
ership of Helena Framovitz.
A group of boys, 13 to 15, has
begun meeting in the Young
Israel office, 3373 Cortland.
A class in Pirke Aboth for
girls 15 to 18, taught by Rabbi
Eli Greenbaum, will meet in the
Bnai David Synagogue Saturday
at 5 p. m.

To Close This Sunday
Shaarey Zedek Sunday School
officially will close this Sunday
morning when honor assemblies
will be held for the primary and
high school grades. Prizes will
