ruled. The World Jewish Congress has established a depart-
ment for culture and education to support schools, train teach-
ers, etc. American Jewish communities are asked to send extra
Sifre Torah, prayer books and Bibles to the World Jewish
Congress, 243 W. 55th, N. Y. City, for shipment overseas.

the gathering at a gala banquet held recently in Rio de Janeiro when the Jewish com-
munity and leaders of Brazil made an important contribution toward the establishment
in Palestine of the Weizmann Institute of Science in honor of the great scientist and
president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine. Brazil's quota toward the fund is $100,-
000, five percent of the cost of the scientific project to be erected soon in Palestine.

for impoverished survivors in Europe, and
United Palestine Appeal, which supplies
funds for projects in Palestine, derive De-
troit contributions through the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation's Allied Campaign.
