Mrs. Welt Addresses Detroit
Section NCJW; Elect Officers
Mrs, Joseph M. Welt, president
of the National Council of Jew-
ish Women, was guest speaker at
the annual luncheon • of the De-
troit Section, on Tuesday, May 1,
at the Hotel Statler. Mrs. Her-
schel V. Kreger, chairman of the
local group, presided.
Officers for the coming year
are: Mrs. Herschel V. Kreger,
president; Mrs. Herbert Smith,
Mrs. William Grahm and Mrs.
Benjamin Shwayder, vice presi-
dents; Mrs. Gilbert Michel, secre-
tary; Mrs. Lewis C. Frank, cor-
responding secretary; Mrs. A. C.
Lappin, financial secretary and
Mrs. J. H. Davis, assistant financ-
ial secretary.
Mrs. Kreger announced that
the Council had sold $150,000' in
bonds before the opening of the
7th War Loan Drive. Mrs. Ed-
ward Stein and Mrs. Sidney Sol-
omon head the bond committee.
Prizes were awarded to Mrs.
N. C. Rosenfeld, Mrs. B. N. Pur-
nell and Mrs. Louis Marks for
securing the greatest number of
new members. Two hundred and
50 new members have joined the
organization.
