ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
S/Sgt Earl Hordes, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hordes of
Calvert Ave., returned home this week after two years overseas.
After -a brief visit he will leave for Florida to visit with his wife
before reporting for reassignment. S/Sgt. . Hordes-participated in
the Anzio Beach invasion and spent most of his overseas stay in
Italy.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving T. Oberfelder of Canterbury Rd., have
returned from a fortnight in Montgomery, Ala., where they visited
their son, A/C William Oberfelder. Cadet Oberfelder has been
transferred to Amarillo, Tex., where he is receiving training to be-
come a flight engineer on a B-29.
Mrs. Howard Sherman has returned to Bainbridge, Md., where
her husband Lt. (j.g.) Sherman is stationed following a week's visit
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hartman of Chicago Blvd.
Capt. and Mrs. Edward Rosenthal Jr., of Parkside Ave.,- have
returned from a short visit in Washington. Capt. Rosenthal who
recently has returned from overseas service is spending. his leave
with his family before re-assignment.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rosman of 2234 Boston Blvd., will have
open house. Sunday, May 6 from 7 to 10 p. m. complimenting their
daughter, Gloria Rose, and her fiance, Meyer Ellis.
Lt. Commander I. W. Ruskin, (USNR), of Burlingame Ave.,
will report for duty at San Francisco, on. May 7. . .
Ensign Marion Katzenstein, Wave, who is• stationed in Detroit,
spent a few days leave in Niagara Falls and Buffalo.
Julian Caplan of New York City spent a few days with his
sisters, the Misses Jeanette and Ruth Caplan of Whitmore Rd.,
en route to San Francisco, where he plans to make his home. Mrs.
Caplan, who accompanied her husband from New York, will spend
a few weeks with her parents in Monroe, Mich., before going to
California.

Mr. and Mrs: Sydney Moss of .Pennington Dr., are spending
some time in Las Vegas, Nev., where they went to visit their 'son,
Lt, Melvin MosS. •
Major and Mrs. Harold Felstein and their son' Jarrand of Stout
AN. Ave., have returned from a visit in New York City. The major's
mother, Mrs. H. M. Felstein whose home is in New York, returned
with them.
Pvt. Adrian Rosen left Tuesday for Kearns, Utah, following .a
10 day- furlough with his family. in their home in Santa Rosa Dr.
GM 3/C Franklin T. Linx is spending a 10-day leave with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edmund B. Linx of ByrOn Ave. His brother,
SM 1/c Edmund B. Jr., who recently returned from 17 months over-
seas duty, is home on a 20-day leave.
Ensign and Mrs. Harvey Willens are spending 10 days with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Willens of LaSalle Blvd. Ensign Wil-
lens who has been stationed at Norfolk, Va., is en route to •a new
post.
Mrs. Elsa Koploy of Boston Blvd., is spending a week in At-
lanta, Ga., where she went to visit her son and daughter-in-law,
Ensign and Mrs Leslie Koploy. Ensign Koploy is stationed with the
Naval Air Base in Atlanta.
. Pfc. Bernard G. Krohn and his brother, Pfc. Lawrence H., who
are in the ASTP at the University of Michigan, are spending a week
on a fishing trip in Northern Michigan. Their parents, Dr. and Mrs.
Albert Krohn of Cambeidge Rd., accompanied them.
. Sgt. Joseph Lattin who recently has returned from overseas is
spending a 21-day leave with Mrs. Lattin and their son, Barry, in
their home in Elmhurst Ave. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Lattin of Cortland Ave.

While Mr. and Mrs. Sydney. Moss of Pennington .Drive are
visiting with their son, Lt. Melvin Moss in Las Vegas ; Nev., their
daughter,, Ethel Janet, will be residing at the home of • Miss Phyllis
Rubin of 18614 Fairfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Eli Sachse of 1528 Virginia Park will be at home
to relatives and friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p. -m. on Sunday in
honor of their golden .wedding anniversary.
Dr. and Mrs. J. D. Rosenman of 18682 Fairfield will be at home
from 2 to 5 p. m. Sunday in honor of the engagement of their son,
Dr. Ray Rosenman, to .Miss Natalie .Lilienthal, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Lilienthal of Chicago.
