WRITES:
"We're Berlin bound, but most
of the boys aren't very optimis7
tic—they don't think it will be
there when we arrive. In some
of these parts, I've never seen
so much mud, and taking Co-
logne after not having had a
bath in over two months only
added to the Oder. It was so
deep, we expected an enemy sub
to start torpedoing us any min-
ute.
"I almost had to pull one guy
out by the hair. Lucky I didn't,
'cause he came out combing it
with a handkerchief! Hope you
don't mind me cutting short, but
a Red Cross truck just pulled
up with some coffee and sinkers
and man, is it gonna hit the
right spot! Regards to the home
folks."
