I ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fenton, Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Fenton and Mr.
and Mrs. Barney Smith have gone to New York City where they will
be guests at. the Waldorf-Astoria.
Sam Smaltz of Philadelphia Ave., has returned from a few
weeks' visit with his son, Allen, who is stationed at the San Diego,
Calif., Sound School,
Dr. S. E. Barnett of the Belcrest and Dr. M. Rattner of Long-
fellow Ave. have returned after an extended vacation in the South.
11,Ir. and Mrs. J. Sporn and Mr. and Mrs. N. Cowan of 4023
Buena Vista have left for a visit in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Goodman of Fullerton Ave. honored their
daughter, Eleanor; on her 16th birthday, on Jan. 20, with a lunch-
eon at the Book Casino followed by a theater party for 20 guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Karbal of Webb Ave. spent several
days in Chicago. The Karbals were hosts to a group of relatives
and friends at Latin Quarters in honor of Mrs. Karbal's brother,
Marty Levin, who has returned from 26 months' service overseas.
After a 30-day furlough he will return to San Francisco for
reassignment.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Goldberg of 1555 Lawrence will honor
their daughter, Doris Marilyn, a Central High School honor grad-
uate. with a reception at their home from 3 to 5 and 8 to 10 p. m.
Sunday. No cards.
Mrs. Sam Wider of 3770 Edison has left for a two weeks' visit
with relatives in New York.
Lt. and Mrs. David Paul (Rosalie Rosenberg) have returned to
Pampa, Tex.. after spending 16 days .with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Morris Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Rosenberg of Calvert
Ave.
Mrs. Lena Agree of Indiana Ave. left last week for St. Peters-
burg, Fla., where she- will visit with her daughter and son-in-law,
Lt. and Mrs. Samuel Hack.
Louis Goldman, president of Cong. Mt. Sinai. Port Huron, has
returned from a vacation of several weeks in California.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farbsten of Burlington Dr. are planning
to leave next Thursday fOr Palm Beach, Fla., where they will re-
main for six weeks.
Mr. - and Mrs. Henry Soss Of Balmoral Dr. were hosts to a
group of their friends at a dinner in their home last Wednesday
evening.
Dr. Harry Saltzstein of the Be'crest Hotel has returned from
Miami Beach, Fla.. where he visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
A. L. Saltzstein of Milwaukee, who are spending the winter there.
Mr. and MI's. Miles Finsterwald of Balmoral Dr. are planning to
leave on Monday for a stay in Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Steele of Monterey Ave. have re-
turned from a visit in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. David Wilkus of Boston Blvd. are expected home
this Friday from a visit hi New York City.

Lipson (Bess Silver), of 26 Gar-
den Dr., Mt. Clemens, a daugh-

Miss Wyn Garden, vocalist,
who was accompanied by Miss
Lillian Robbins, presented a
musical program. Mrs. Samuel
Blacher gave the prayer and
Mrs. Irvin Levy played the Na-
tional Anthem sung by the au-
dience. Mrs. Martha Krauss was
chairman. Mrs. Maurice Klein,
former president of the League
of - Jewish Women's Organiza-
tions, gave a resume of the
organization's work.

Jan. 19—To Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Wolff (Doris Ruth Share) of
11518 Woodrow Wilson, a daugh-
ter, Stephanie Lee.

$25 to Federation of Polish Jews
and $10 to the National Founda-
tion for Infantile Paralysis. Mrs.
Alvin Skelly and Mrs. Herman
Raznick were co-chairmen of the
dinner party held Jan. 25 at the
Jewish Center. -

held a cabaret evening in the
lecture hall of the Art Institute.
Mrs. Herman Stark was in
charged of arrangements. Re-
freshments were served by the
ladies of Self-Help. The sum of
4422 was designated for the set-
tlement of two children in
Palestine.

er Detroit Temple 152 and
Knights of Pythias 55 installed
the following officers Jan. 15 at
the Bnai Moshe: Dorothy Shulak,
most excellent chief; Kay Tis-
dale and Jennie Rosenberg, execu-
tives senior and junior; Lillian
Meltzer, manager; Esther Trox-
ell, mistress of records and cor-
respondence; Esther Singerman,
mistress of finance; Faye Slut-
sky, protector; Florence Roseri-
berg, outer guard; Helen Shapiro,
press.
Kathleen Goldfine was
mistress' of ceremonies. Orril
Blair, Manager of Michigan
Grand Temple, commended the
