L ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

February Bride

Mrs. Louis M. Cohn of Byron Ave. has left for Los Angeles
where she will spend the winter.
Capt. John B. Horwitz is spending his fortnight's leave from
Mitchell Convalescent Hospital, Camp Lockett, Calif., • with Mrs.
Horwitz, their daughter Rhoda and their son Fred of Oakinan Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. David Greenwald of Byron Ave. have as their
guest, Mrs: Greenwald's sister, Miss Carrie Paschelles of Milwaukee.
Miss Paschelles will remain until Tuesday and will be accompanied
home by Mr. and Mrs. Greenwald.
Tom Epstein is expected home this Friday from the Hotchkiss
School to spend his vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Epstein of Canterbury Rd.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kramer of Whitmore Rd. have as their guests
their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Irving Kramer, and her small daughter,
Susan Ellen. Mrs. Kramer's sister, Mrs. Max Pressler, has returned
to her home in Buffalo following a fortnight's visit, and their son,
Pvt. Irving Kramer, who is stationed at Fort Bliss, Tex., is expected
home on a 10-day furlough on Dec. 22.
Pfc. Bernard G. Krohn and his brother, Pfc. Lawrence H. Krohn,
left Wednesday to visit in Seattle, Portland and Puget Sound. They
are on 15-day leave from the ASTP at the University of Michigan.
Mrs. Abraham Zierer of Tuxedo Ave. has left for Los Angeles,
where she will visit her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Zierer.
Mrs. Isadore Gallow of Calvert Ave. has returned from a short
visit in Toronto.
Miss Miriam Bernstein, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Albert E.
Bernstein of 2400 W. Boston Blvd., is home on vacation from Rock-
wood Park School, Boston, Mass.
The Misses Helen Kahn, Molly Zeltzer and Ruthe Baschin were
recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Plaut (Hadassah Yanich,
formerly of Detroit), in Cincinnati, 0. Mr. and Mrs. Plaut will visit
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yanich of 2319 Leslie Ave., from
Dec. 18 through Jan. 7.

Women's Clubs

JEWISH WOMEN'S SERVICE
CLUB sponsored a servicemen's
shower Dec. 12 at Lachar's. Pack-_
ages received will be used as
gifts for the Hawaii Serve-a-
Camp project. Mrs. Ethel Klein
was chairman of the affair. On
Nov. 27, members, under the
chairmanship of Betty Kaplan,
served at the Downtown USO.

ZEDAKAH CLUB will meet
at 1:30 P. M. Monday at the home
of Mrs. Sylvia Gourowitz, 4061
Sturtevant. After the business
meeting, Mrs. Esther Mossman
will review a current book.
Members of Zedakah Club served
a supper for service men and
women at Romulus Air Base af-
ter services Dec. 8. Next Wed-
nesday, club members will serve
at the USO party at the Great
Lakes Club.

Charities will benefit from the
proceeds of a card party spon-
sored by GOODWILL SEWING
CIRCLE on Tuesday evening, at
Bnai Moshe, Dexter and Law-
rence. Each year the Circle con-
ducts an evening of games to
raise funds which are distribut-
ed for the benefit of the sick
and needy. Mrs. Sam Rosenberg,
president, appointed Mrs. Louis
Hartman, chairman of this af-
fair. The public is invited.

INFANTS SERVICE GROUP
met at the home of Mrs. L. E'.
Weingarden, Dec. 4. The group
served at the USO Dec. 11. The
following were hostesses: Mes-
dames W. Katz, D. Mattes, S.
Guttentag, M. Shepherd, M. Si-
mon, E. Rosenfeld, R. Perkus, E.
Shewach, G. Treeger, E. Sher-
man, M. Fox, S. Koppelman, A.
Eklar, H. Weingarden, W. Kaye,
L. Levin, J. Freeman, H. Good-

man. D. King, A. Goodman and
W. Stern. Mrs. Sam Gross, in
charge of bonds and stamps, re-
ported a large sale in the Sixth
War Loan drive. A check was
mailed to the Ruth Alden Dress
Fund. Dec. 6, 7 and 8 were set
aside at the Red Cross Blood
Bank for members and their
families. A donation was made to
The Jewish News "Cards for
Fighters" fund.

Miss Shirley Bluestein, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blue-
stein of Carter Ave., has chosen
the month of February for her
marriage to Walter Weinhart, son
of Mr. and .Mrs. Morris Weinhart
of Carter Ave.

YOUNG WOMEN'S STUDY
CLUB, on Dec. 5, heard a review
on "Earth and High Heaven,"
given by Mrs. Frances L. Boddy,
at the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg.
Meetings are held every Tuesday
at 1:30 p. m., and new members
are invited. A board meeting
was held Dec. 11 at the home
of Mrs. Rose Schreidell, club
president.

Mrs. Fanny Frank, chairman
of the Red Cross Division, has
received word from headquart-
ers that all Red Cross . work-
rooms are to be closed for three
weeks starting Dec. IQ. This
work will be resumed on Jan. 9.

the WOMEN'S AUXILIARY of
UNITED HEBREW SCHOOLS
for the presentation of the second
of the series of programs — a
pageant depicting in song and
drama the complete cycle of all
Jewish holidays and festivals.
Mrs. Bert Smokier is chairman
of the program. Mrs. Jack Tobin
is president of the Auxiliary.

JEMS will hold their annual
pledge tea on Sunday under the
direction of social committee co-
chairmen, Rhoda Gurvis, Rita
Bricker and Roslyn Eisenman.
The tea will mark the first an-
niversary of the JEMS who were
started by Joyce Katz, _Phyllis
Cherney, Clarice Rubinstein,
Sarabelle Jalan, Lillian Sobel,
and Audrey Hartman. Member-
ship has now grown to 59. Thirty-
five girls will be pledged at this
tea, at the home of Natalie Sims.
