seas in March, 1943 and was in
the Pacific area since then.

is serving with the navy in the
T/5 Cpl. Ernest R. Ba- Pacific.
Samuel Rubber, chairman of the Detroit Army and
Navy Committee of the Jewish Welfare. Board, and Myron
Keys, chairman of the JWB War Records Committee, this
week renewed the call to Detroit Jews to assist in complet-
ing the available records of Detroit - Jews in the armed forces.
The Jewish News last week published the list of avail-
able names in the letter A.
In this issue we are publishing the B list.
Relatives and friends of those whose 'records -are incom--
plete are asked to apply to the Jewish Welfare Board, Wood-
ward and Rolbrook, MA. 8400, for available blanks' to provide
the desired information.
Relatives and friends of servicemen are especially
urged to inform the Army and Navy Committee of
changes in rank of the listed men and women. - Wherever
and whenever possible, it is urged that the committee be
supplied with additional information regarding those list-
ed in the record.
Those knowing of missing names in these lists are ask-
- ed to submit them to the War Records Committee.

A veteran of the' African cam-
paign who was transferred to
the South Pacific, Pfc. Max
Rubin, 22, was wounded during
the early days of Gen. Mac-
Arthur's invasion of the central
Philippines, it was learned here
this week.
Pfc. Rubin was wounded on
Leyte on Oct. 20, his mother,
Mrs. Ida Rubin
of 1601 Blaine,
was informed by
the war depart-
ment. He was
hit in the face,
back and arms,
by shra*pnel.
He was a stu-
dent at Detroit
Institute of Tech-
Pfc. Ribin nology where he
studied pre-law before he en-
tered the service in January,
1943. He saw action in Africa
from May until August 1943.
Upon his return he went to
Camp Shelby, Miss., where he
applied for ASTP training and
was sent to Kalamazoo College,
Kalamazoo, Mich. He completed
his basic training in engineering
at the time the specialized train-
ing program was abolished.
Sent to an infantry unit, Pfc.
Rubin saw service in the South
Pacific for four months until he
was wounded.
