Mrs. Arnold Levine entertained in honor of her sister, ,Ruth
Cohon, Yeoman 3/c, who is home on leave, after a brief illness,
from her station at Wilmington, N. C. Mrs. Art Jaffin also en-
tertained at her home last Monday evening for Yeoman Cohon.
In honor of their golden wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Feller of 13835 LaSalle Blvd., will entertain their friends at
reception, Sunday, Nov. 12, from 9 to 12 p. m., at the Wilshire.

Miss Rita Kallman, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Kaltman
of Canterbury Drive, is attending the University of Michigan and is
residing at Stockwell Hall.

Sisterhood Monday
Hallett Abend to Speak on
America's Stake in
the Pacific
Hallett Abend, former chief
Far Eastern correspondent for
the New York Times, will dis-
cuss America's stake in the Pa-
cific at the opening meeting of
the Sisterhood of Temple Beth
El, next Monday in the Brown
Memorial Chapel of the Temple.
Mr. Abend has had a long dis-
tinguished record in the Orient,
and is considered an authority
on reports of the Far East. He
is the author of several books
on Japan, ..China and Far East
issues, and is a frequent con-
tributor to Reader s' Digest,
American Mercury and other
current periodicals.
His talk will be proceeded by
a dessert luncheon at 1:30 in the
social hall of the Temple.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Winer of 9378 Broadstreet have been informed
that their son, Pfc. Maurice Winer, is returning home on Nov. 13
after spending two and a half years in the Southwest Pacific. Rela-
tives and friends are asked to visit with him during his stay here.
Mrs. Anna Handelsman of Taylor Ave. has been in Oceanside,
Calif., since Oct. 24 visiting her son, Pfc. Jay Handelsman, USMCR,
who is returning to overseas duty.
The Junior Congregation of Rose Sittig Cohen Branch of the
United Hebrew Schools was served a kiddush last Saturday morning
by Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Lubetsky on the occasion of the wedding of
their son.
Mrs. Henriette Ginsburg of Warrington Drive has left for Kan-
sas City, Mo., to attend the marriage of her son, Cpl. Sidney Gins-
burg, to Miss Rosalind Goldfinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Goldfinger of that city, on Nov. 12. Miss Norma Ginsburg, Maury
Coggan, Michael Feinberg and Sam Grand will fly to Kansas City
this week-end to attend the wedding.
Miss Shirley Mae Schwartz of Pingree Ave. has resumed her
studies as a sophomore at the University of Michigan.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Goodman of 3323 Buena Vista Ave., will
be at home this Saturday evening in honor of their daughter, Lt.
Helen Goodman of the WAC, who is on leave here until Nov. 12.

A girls' choir was recently or-
ganized at the David W. Simons:
Hebrew School, 4000 Tuxedo.
Girls who are musically inclined
meet every Sunday after school
sessions from 12:30 to 1:30 and
learn to sing religious and mod-
ern Palestinian songs. The choir
is directed by Mrs. Samuel Lehr-
man of the staff•of the David W.
Simons School.
