ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. Sidney L. Alexander of 11534 Byron Ave. will
be at home from 2 to 5 P. M. Sunday, honoring their children-, Lt.
and Mrs. Sidney L. Alexander Jr., on the occasion of Lt. Alex-
ander's return from overseas.
Miss Henrietta Ascher and her brother, Clarence, of Second
Ave. are spending three weeks in Miami Beach.
Mrs. Benjamin Siegel and her daughter, Eleanor, of Boston
Blvd. returned Wednesday from a few weeks stay in Atlantic City:.
Mrs. L. M. Moses of New Orleans is expected this week-end to
spend a fortnight with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henry Moses (Sue
Wineman) of Hamilton Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Baum of Fairfield Ave. had as their guests
last week-end, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Nathan of Buffalo.
Mr. and Mrs. Burton Clamage of 17400 San Juan Dr., will be
at home on Sunday evening, Nov .12, from 8 to 12 o'clock in honor
of their children, Lt. (jg..) and Mrs. Irwin S. Clamage (Genevieve
Waxier) who were married in Los Angeles last February. Lt.
Clamage is on a 15-day leave.
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ettlinger of Pennington Dr. were hosts to a
group of friends at a dinner in their home last Tuesday evening.
Miss Betty Frank, a student at Western College, Oxford, 0., will
spend the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Frank of
Colorado Ave.
Mrs. Joseph Welt of Boston Blvd. and Mrs. Samuel Glowgower
of Chicago Blvd., president and director, respectively, of the Na-
tional Council of Jewish Women, are expected to leave this week-
end for New York City to attend Council meetings.
Mr. and Mrs S.. E. Wolfe are spending the winter in Los Angeles
where they are guests at the Chapman Park Hotel. Mrs. Wolfe was
Mrs. Lottie Lenick before her marriage on Oct. 16.
Miss Ethel Steinberg returned to her home in New York City
Monday following a three-week stay with her brother and sister-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Steinberg of Webb Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Enggass of Cumberland Way are ex-
pected home Sunday from New York City.
John Kaichen, a student at Kenyon College in Ohio, is spend-
ing a 10-day between semesters vacation with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Kaichen of Huntington Woods.
Mrs. William Fleischman of Cambridge Rd. is leaving Sunday
for a week in New York City.
Capt. A.. Joseph Himelhoch - has been transferred from
O'Reilly General Hospital, Springfield, Mo., to Fitzsimmons Gen-
eral Hospital, Denver.

Mrs. Henry Meyers of Lincolnshire Dr. and her sister, Mrs.
Arthur Bloom of Glouster Dr., have returned from a visit in
New York City.

Mr. and Mrs. Ira Ciralsky of South Bend, Ind., are expected
to arrive on Nov. 18 to spend 10 days with their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin H. Baer of Fairfield Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Kahn of Chicago Blvd. are spending 10 days in
New York City.
Mrs. Max Frank of Calvert Ave. has returned from a visit in
Dallas, Tex., and Oklahoma City, Okla. Her son, Pvt. Robert Frank,
is stationed in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Samuel Hartman of Shrewsbury Rd. spent the last week-
end in Cleveland visiting her family. She was accompanied by her
guest, Mrs. J. M. Becker (Eleanor Whitney) of New York City.
Mrs. Harry L. Jones and. her children, Ellen and Richard, of
Muirland Ave. are planning to leave Nov. 17 for a week in New
York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Moe Ehrlich of Boston Blvd. are spending a few
days_ in Youngstown, 0., with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Milton Klivans.
Miss Susan Kessler of the Art Center Apt. left last Monday to
spend 10 days in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Plaut of Glynn Ct. were hosts at a family
dinner last Friday- in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Plaut's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. William Hecht
who came for the occasion, returned Monday to their home in New
York City.
Mrs. George Sterm of New York City is spending a few weeks
as the guest of her sister, Mrs. Regine Stern of Highland Ave.

Pioneer Women's
Membership Gains

Pioneer Women's Organiza-
tions reported large enrollments
of new members at the last
Council meeting.
The extensive drive of the
Child Rescue Fund, carried on
during the summer, made pos-
sible the sending of $21,000 to
national headquarters.
Organizations that still have
Child Rescue Fund money for

The first rally for the annual
fund-raising donor project for in-
stitutions 4 of the Working Wo-
men's Council at take place
next Monday, at 8:30 p. m., at
the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg.,
Waverly and Lawton. Tamima
Cohen, former member of the
Toronto Board of Education, will
be guest speaker. A musical pro-
gram and social hour will follow.
Members and their prospects are
urged to attend.

Zedek. Dr. A. M. Hershman and
Cantor Jacob Sonenklar officiat-
ed. Mrs. Jacob L. Keidan was
the matron of honor, and Jacob
L. Horowitz of New York City
served his brother as best man.
The out-of-town guests includ-
ed the bridegroom's sister, Mrs.
Louis Lober, Mr. and Mrs. Max
Krischer, Mrs. Mabel Jaffe and
Harold Gartner of New York
City, Dr. and Mrs. Irwin S. Warm
of Cincinnati, and Samuel Lanski,

GORZECK-LEVINE---The mar-
riage of Miss Iris Sharron Levine,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David
A. Levine of Burlingame Ave.,
and Pvt. Louis Gorzeck, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Gorzeck of
Gladstone Ave., took place Oct.
22, at the Lee Plaza Hotel.
Dr. A. M. Hershman officiated
at the ceremony which was at-
tended by the immediate family.
The bridegroom's sister, Bess
Gorzeck, was maid of honor, and
Jack Goldstein was best man.
Miss Joyce Weingarden and Miss
Barbara Sloan were bridesmaids.
Harry Markowitz and Al Greffin
were ushers.
The couple left on a short
honeymoon trip after which, they
will make their home in Missis-
sippi where Pvt. Gorzeck is sta-
tioned at Fort Shelby.
Pvt. Gorzeck attended Wayne
University where he was a mem-
ber of the Gamma 'Kappa Chi
fraternity before entering serv-
ice.

LEWIS-SLATKIN—Miss Shir-
ley Muriel Slatkin, niece of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Slatkin of
Wildemere Ave. became the bride
of Lt. Leon Henry Lewis, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Lewis of Webb
Ave., on Thursday, Nov. 2. Dr. B.
Benedict Glazer performed the
ceremony at the Statler Hotel.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her uncle, was lovely
in her traditional gown of ivory
satin. Her fingertip veil hung
from a wreath of orange blossoms
and she carried a white bible to
which an orchid was attached.
Miss Zenia Slatkin was her
cousin's maid of honor and Saul
Dunitz served as best man.
The young couple will make
their home for the present in
Salt Lake City, where Lt. Lewis
is stationed.
