MAX ALPER

Naame in Eretz Yisroel: The
event will take place at the Rose
Sittig Cohen Bldg. this Saturday,
No. 11, at 9 p. m.
Mr. Alper, an architect by pro-
fession, will discuss the subject,
"American Chalutzim for Pales-
tine." He fought with the Amer-
ican Legion in Palestine in 1917
and is familiar with the situation
in Palestine and the need for
American Chalutzim in the post-
war period. A member of the
National Council of the Histad-
rut, he has been in close contact
with the Labor Zionist youth
movement.
The Leon Blum colony at
Naame is named for the one-time
Premier of France, and was
founded a year ago by a group of
young people from the U. S.,
England and the Baltic countries.
It is located in a swampy district
in the Galil, and the Chalutzim
are now draining the swamps and
reclaiming the fields. Several
hundred young Americans plan
to join them when war travel
conditions permit, and when
many of them are released from
