Arab-Jewish Relations

As part of the program to promote Arab-Jewish relations in Pales-
tine, the Political Department of the Jewish Agency, whose source of
American support is the United Palestine Appeal, has established a
permanent institute near Haifa •for the purpose of training -leaders of
Jewish settlements in the Arabic language and in Arab relations. Eight-
month courses will be given annually and it is expected that 30 persons
will graduate at the end of each session. An initial sum of $40,000 was
expended on this project, which is being carried out with the-coopera-
tion of the Agricultural Workers' Federation. It is hoped in the \course
of time to' convert the institute into a training center for Jewish Pales-
tine's civil servants.
