BloCh's Book Bulletin, publish-
ed by Bloc Publishing Co., 31
W. 31st St., ITIew York, this week
announced that "The Jew and
His Religion: A Guide for Con-
firmation and High School Class-
es," by Dr. B. Benedict Glazer,
Rabbi of Temple Beth El, Detroit,
and Rabbi Leon I. Feuer of To-
ledo, will be reprinted due to
popular demand.
The new editioli will be ready
in December.
This confirmation guide is di-
vided into three parts, the first
of which describes the origin,
nature and development of re-
ligion in the wor14; the second
is • a study of Judaism in which
is included all the material most
vital and essential for Confir-
mation study; the third part in-
cludes a summing gyp, "Confir-
mation Into Israel" in which is
presented, in simple yet striking
language, those qualifications
which should constitute member-
ship iri the House of Israel and
what is expected of those of the
Jewish faith.
The material is well prepared
and is particularly adapted to
modern youth which demands in-
telligent' presentation in its re-
ligious as well as its secular ed-,
ucation.

Rabbis Fischer, Nathan
Announce Sermons
For Rosh Hashanah

Rabbis Moses Fischer and Ja-
cob J. Nathan will deliver the
sermons at Congregation Bnai
Moshe during the Holydays.
Rabbi Fischer will preach Mon-
day morning on "The Message of
the Shofar to Jewry for the Year
5705." Orl Tuesday, Rabbi Nathan
will- preach on "Crisis and Deci-
sion."
Services for the youth will be
conducted by the Junior Congre-
gation under the supervision of
their own Chazanim, Baal Korek,
discussants and ushers, under the
supervision of Walter Farber.
Before the Mussaf service, a
panel discussion will be conduct-
ed on "The Significance of Rosh
Hashanah awl Yom Kippur." By
Richard Rosman, Dolores Kay,
Elaine Berger, Beverly Rozner,
Phyllis Gelpman, Mildred Sel-
man and Myron Novitz.
Young men who will partici-
pate in junior -services in various
capacities are Ralph Simkovitz,
Morris Neuvirth, Henry Lonnen-
stater, Yale Boesky, Walter Nuss-
baum and Milford Sobel.

To Conduct Services

at the Downtown Synagogue,

New Year Eve services will
begin at 7:30 p.m.; morning
services begin at 8 a.m.
Kol ,Nidre (Eve of Day of
Atonement) services will begin
at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Hotel Statler.
A large committee of workers
is assisting Mr. Cohen in this
year's activities.
Proceeds from the ball are
used to finance the Zionist edu-
cational activities and the youth
programs sponsored by the De-
troit Zionists, as well as emerg-
ency efforts required to protect
Palestine's redemption work.
Mr. Cohen's appointment )as
been welcomed with satisfaction
in • view of the record-breaking
membership drives conducted
under his chairmanship. The
local Zionist Organization mem-
bership has been boosted to
2,500,due to Mr. Cohen's efforts.

Arranged for Holydays

Auerbach's Rosh Hashanah ser-
mons at Congregation Mt. Sinai,
Port Huron. A Singer will recite
the Shachris and Charles Dres-

WWJ, Rabbi Leon Fram and the
choir of Temple Israel will
broadcast a program on "The
Meaning and the Music of Yom
Kippur" next Thursday night,
Sept. 21, 8:30 to 9.
Rabbi Fram will interpret the
classic prayers to be sung by
Cantor Tulman and the choir.
Among the compositions to be
rendered wire the Neilah Kad-
dish (Mourners' Prayer), the
Priestly Blessing, the Kedusha
("Holy, Holy") and the Kol
Nidre. Several of-' the composi-
tions to be rendered are the orig-
inal works of Dan Frohman, di-
rector of Temple Israel choir.
Karl W. Haas, organist of Tem-
ple Israel, will be at -the console
of the studio organ.
Rabbi Fram announces the fol-
lowing sermon topics for the Day
of Atonement: "Reconciliation"
for the Kol Nidre Service,
"Righteousness and Self-Righte-
ousness" at the morning. service,
"Yom Kippur Story" at the Chil-
dren's Service, and "Immortality"
at the Memorial Service. All
services stake place in the Audi-
torium of the Detroit Institute of
Arts.

ple Israel, whose opening was
delayed when the opening of
Public SChools was postponed,
will begin its sessions at Hamp-

Drive, Saturday morning, Sept.

PETOSKEY—Holyday services

Haifa Votes 12 Million
Construction Program

HAIFA, (JTA) ,-- The Haifa
municipal council has approved
a $12,000,000 program for re-
construction of the city after the
war.
Preparations are being com-
pleted for - the sending of a Jew-
ish trade delegation to, the U. S.
to negotiate for large scale im-
ports of American commodities.
The delegation will represent the
Jewish industrialists, merchants
and agriculturists of the country.
