One of the leading Detroit radio stations will be included
in the coast-to-coast broadcasts to be' sponsored in 100 cities
by the Zionist Organization of America, according to an an-
nouncement made here last week by Joshua Epstein of New
York, chairman of the ZOA Radio Project Committee.
Mr. Epstein was in Detroit to confer with local Zionists
at a luncheon at Hotel Statler.
Rabbi Leon Fram, president of
the Zionist Organization of De-
troit, presided.
39 Stars to Appear
According to Mr. Epstein, 39
top-flight stars will appear in
the program to be known as
"Palestine Speaks." Included
among the artists and Eddie
Cantor, Edward G. Robinson,
Joseph Cotton, Victor Jory,
Joseph Schildkraut, John Boles,
Gene Kelly, Spencer Tracy,
Laird Cregar and Walter Abel.
"Palestine Speaks," Mr. Ep-
stein announced, will bring these
well-known stage and screen per-
sonalities before the microphone
as guest performers in dramatic
stories about the tremendous ac-
complishments of the Jews in
Palestine.
With Ben Grauer of "Informa-
tion Please" as the regular an-
nouncer for the series, "'Palestine
Speaks" will drive home in liv-
ing terms the pageant and drama
of building a nation on the
world's oldest frontier.
Merits of Zionism
The weekly program-record-
ings are designated to bring be-
fore the American public the
positive merits of the Zionist
case by demonstration, rather
than argument or special plead-
ing. According to the ZOA, "Pal-
estine Speaks' is designed as a
vital instrumentality to drama-
tize in a cogent way the con-
tributions made by Jewish Pal-
estine to the Allied war effort,
and hoW the people of Palestine
are meeting the challenge creat-
ed by the homelessness of the
Jews in Europe.
Among the stories on the nine-
month broadcast schedule will be
tributes to the Hadassah, the
Jewish National Fund, and the
Keren Hayesod, for their out-
Standing contributions to the de-
velopment of Palestine. •
The recordings will be broad-
cast under the individual aus-.
pices of the Zionist Districts
where each broadcast occurs.
How War Captives
Are Treated—
Here, Over There
It frequently has been charged
that Nazi war prisoners in the
U. S. are coddled in strange con-
trast to Nazi treatment of U. S.
war prisoners in Germany. The
following stories highlight this
contrast.
NEW YORK (JPS) — That
Jewish guards were removed
from their posts at a camp for
Nazi war prisoners in this coun-
try, is revealed in an article in
Pic, a pictorial bi-weekly, by
George W. Herald, former mem-,
ber of a Prisoner of War Process-
ing Co.
"The other • day," he reports,
"several young captives started
teasing and vexing some of our
guards because of their Jewish
descent. The guards finally were
withdrawn, not as a concession
to racial prejudice but in order
to avoid any incident which
could serve as a pretext for re-
taliation against American sol-
diers, Christian a ri d Jewish,
taken prisoner by the Nazis."
,
WASHINGTON (JPS)—Amer-
ican soldiers in German prison
camps may receive 60 pounds of
books a year;but they must come
directly from - a booksellers and
should not be by Jewish au-
thors, by emigres from axis-held
territories or by others on the
Nazi blacklist. This was re
vealed by the Red Cross here,
which also reported that t h e
Nazis ban from.. wax prisoners

They tell it about Robert, Cum-

answered Cummings dryly. He
