Sees 'Flood'
Of Refugees
President of Keren Hayesod
Urges 'Open Ports' at
Tel Aviv, Haifa
NEW YORK, N. Y.—Declaring
that "the present trickle of regu-
gees from Europe will, in the im-
mediate future, become a flood,"
Judge Bernard A. Rosenblatt,
president of the Palestine Found-
ation Fund (Keren Hayesod)
called for the establishment of
"open ports" at Tel Aviv and
Haifa in Palestine, to cope with
the problem of saving the lives of
Jewish refugees.
Judge Rosenblatt, welcoming
the "gesture of President Roose-
velt in offering a place of refuge
at Fort Ontario for 1,000 victims
of Nazi persecution" pointed out
that it was only "a very small
beginning."
Judge Rosenblatt announced
that the Palestine Foundation
Fund forwarded $1,000,000, "the
largest part of which will be used
for the statement of Jewish refu-
gees from the Hitler holocaust
and their establishment on the
land as self-respecting and self-
supporting individuals." He
promised that greater funds
would be available when increas-
ing use is made of Palestine "as
the most suitable haven of refuge
for the Jews of Europe."
In making additional lands
available for the settlement of
Jewish refugees in Palestine,
Judge Rosenblatt pointed out
that there was German property
in Palestine which, he said, could
be used as reception centers.
