I ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mrs. Samuel Hirschberg of McKeesport, Pa. is the guest of
her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Al Mann of
Sturtevant Ave.

Apprentice Seaman Sheldon Weinstein, who is stationed at
Central Teachers' College, Mt. Pleasant, Mich., spent the holiday
with his mother, Mrs. Henry N. Weinstein of Broadstreet Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hersh and their son, Robert, have returned
to their home in Buffalo after spending the last week visiting with
members of their family. They were accompanied by Miss Bernice
Yasinow who is their son, David's, fiancee.

The Misses Solomon of Atkinson Ave. had as their guests last
week their brother-in-law -, Henry Solomon of Fairview, Mich., and
their nephew, Cpl. Merril Solomon, who is stationed at Quanset
Point, D. C.

Jack Brodie of Pittsburgh spent the holiday as the guest of
his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence C. Crohn
of Wildemere Ave.

Sgt. and Mrs. Richard - Lazar have returned to Dayton, 0.,
where Sgt. Lazar is stationed at Wright Field, after spending the
last week-end with Sgt. - Lazar's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isadore. of
Fullerton Ave.

Mrs. Moe G. Lussan returned on Thursday to her home in
Duluth after a week's visit with her sister, Miss Jeanette Kanner
of Highland Ave.

Lt. and Mrs. Sidney Michalovitz are spending a few days visit-
ing with Mrs. Michalovitz's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Federman of
Fullerton Ave. Enroute back to Lt. Michalovitz's post at Camp
Shelby, Miss., they will visit with his family in Cleveland.
Miss Sybil Perlmutter, a student at the University of Michigan,
spent the holiday week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Perlmutter of Edison Ave. She was accompanied by three of her
classmates Miss Luaine Berman of Chicago, Miss Lila Chagjay of
Atlanta,
classmates, and Miss Marilyn Bothman of Ann Arbor. -
Lt. David Reisman has returned to his post at the England
General Hospital in Atlantic City, N. J., after spending the holiday
week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Reisman of
Calvert Ave.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Michelson of Collingwood Ave. have returned
from Clarksville, Tenn., where they visited their children.
MoMM/1C Sydney Auster left on Thursday for the P. T. Train-
ing Base in Melville, R. I., after a 30-day furlougo spent with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Auster of Elmhurst Ave. MoMM/1C
Auster has recently returned from 18 months service in the Solomon
Islands.

Mr. and Mrs. Saul Gordon of Tyler Ave. have as their guests
Mrs. Gordon's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Fafin
and their small daughter, Judy, of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kert and their three children of Toronto
are spending the holiday week with Mrs. Kert's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Simon Meretzsky of Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Sherman of Beaconsfied Ave. have re-
turned from a stay in Miami- Beach, Fla.
Ensign Maxwell Hoffman is leaving this Friday for his post
after a nine-day leave spent with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William
Hoffman of LaSalle Blvd.

Mrs. Dorothy Ratner of Cortland Ave. is spending .a fortnight
in New
York City.

Staff Sgt. and Mrs. William M. Harris are visiting their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles K. Harris of Oak Dr. and Mr. and Mrs.
Benjamin Wilk of Canterbury Rd. Sgt. Harris is on furlough from
his post at the New Orleans Army Air Base, La.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hirsch of Westchester Dr. returned from

Pfc. Oscar Kramer, who has recently returned from service in
the Aleutian Islands, has left for Fort Sheridan, Ill., after spending
a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kramer of
Webb Ave.

Mrs. A. Factor of Fairview Ave. has returned from an extended
trip to Georgia and Florida.

.Joseph Bienenstock of Fullerton Ave. has returned from a
month's stay in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Swirsky of 2246 W. Euclid Ave. observed
their golden wedding anniversary during Passover services. Among
those present were their nine children, most of the 28 grandchil-
dren and one great-grandchild. Ten grandchildren are in service.
Mr. Swirsky, who had been conducting services at the Bnai David,
is 72. Mrs. Swirsky is 68. They were married in Russia and came
to Detroit 35 years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Escoff of Collingwood Ave. will leave Sun-
day for. San Diego, Calif., where they will visit for a few weeks
with Mr. and Mrs. Morris Schwartz, formerly of Detroit.
Mrs. David Freedman of Glendale Ave. is visiting M Paris,
Tex., with her son, Seymour E. Bass, who is stationed at Camp
Maxey, Texas.
