Honors Parents' Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. J. Shurly Horwitz of Oak Drive have left for a stay
in Miami.
Daniel M. Saulson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Saul Saulson, is on leave
from the Naval Reserve Officers' Corps in Ann Arbor. Mr. and Mrs.
Saulson were at home on Monday evening in honor of their son's
21st birthday.
Miss Florence Lieberman of New York, a teacher in the public
schools of Greenbelt, Md., is the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. William
Hordes of Calvert Ave.
Miss Maxine Weinberg has returned to Madison, Wis., after
spending the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Wein-
berg of Warrington Drive.
A/C John J. Rich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Rich of Glynn Court,
is now stationed at Corpus Christi, Tex.
Dr. and Mrs. James Rogan of Edison Ave. are spending 10 days in
Washington and New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rose and children have left to spend the win-
ter in Florida.
Mrs. A. M. Barnett of Pontiac is the guest of her sister, Miss
Selma Rosenthal of the Belcrest Hotel.
Miss Lois Hopp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hopp of Edison
Ave., is spending the week in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. David S. Hubar of Huntington Woods are visiting
their son, Alan, who is an Aviation Cadet stationed at Wofford Col-
lege, Spartanburg, S. C.
A/S Sheldon W. Henry is on furlough from Central National
College. He is the guest of Mrs. Henry S. Weinstein of Broadstreet
Blvd.
Mrs. Seymour Anoff and son of Dayton, 0., has returned home
after visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Weinberg of Warrington
Drive.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Schiller of Glynn Court are on a week's
visit in New York.
Miss June Rosenblum of Chicago Blvd. is spending her vacation
in Gladstone, Mich., as the guest of her mother, Mrs. Henry Rosen-
blum.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Soss of Hamilton Drive are in Mexico for a
brief stay.
Mrs. Morris Mersky of Broadstreet Blvd. has left for San An-
tonio, Tex., to visit her husband, A/C Morris Mersky.
Pvt. James Sucherman is home from Fort Monmouth, N. J.
Miss Natalie Rosenthal of Chicago, Ill., has left for California.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Robinson of Chicago Blvd. are on a two-
weeks' visit with their children. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grier of New
York and Lt. and Mrs. James Wineman of Washington, D. C.
Howard Rothberg has left for Fort Sheridan.
Mrs. A. Joseph Himelhoch and children, Martha, Ralph and
Jonah, of Kingston Rd., are home for a short stay before rejoining
Capt. Himelhoch at Springfield, Miss.
Capt. Alan H. Wolfson, U.S.A.A.C., has been promoted to opera-
tions officer of the Fourth Ferrying Command at Memphis, Tenn.
Capt. Wolfson is the husband of the former Fagabeth Weinstein of
this city.
Miss Anna Oxenhandler of Hazelwood Ave. is spending a few
days in Columbus, 0., visiting with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Tilchin were at home on Dec. 26, in
celebration of their fifth wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Lena Kanter of Saginaw is spending the week-end with her
children, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Kanter.
Mrs. Samuel B. Fagin and daughter, Judy, of Oklahoma City has
returned to her home after visiting her sister, Mrs. Saul Gordon of
Tyler .Ave.
Mr. and Mrs, Herbert Rosenblum and son are vacationing in
Gladstone, Mich.
Lt.. (s.g.) Allen Kline is spending a week's leave with his parents,
Mr. and girs. Nathan Kline of Cortland Ave., before returning to
Providence, R. I.
Miss Judith Sky of Hazelwood Ave. has left for a 15-day visit
with Dr. and Mrs. John J. Slavens of Glencairn, Toronto,- Ontario.
Miss Maxine Harris, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Harris of 17351 Pennington Drive, is rendering service to the USO as
a vocalist. Since her 14th\ birthday, she has been singing at disabled
soldiers' affairs. She is also one of the featured singers at the LaSalle
Club at Central High School.
Mr. and Mrs. David I. Hubar of Huntington Woods left Dec. 16 to
visit their son who is in the Army Air Corps. Aviation Student Alan
Hubar is at Wofford College, Spartanburg, South Carolina. He will
be stationed there until about the middle of January. Then he will
go to Nashville, Tenn., which is a classification center. Alan had his
basic training in Florida. He was graduated from Royal Oak High.
School in June, 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Hubar expect to stay there a week.
-Miss Mickey Goldstein of 3340 Calvert Ave. is on a week's visit
with Major and Mrs. Reuben Abramovitz. at Fort Monmouth, N. J.
A party was arranged in her honor at Fort Monmouth officers' club.
Sgt. Bernard Koss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Koss, arrived
home after a year of overseas duty with the U. S. Army Medical
Corps in England. Many affairs have been given in honor of Sgt.
and Mrs. Bernard Koss (Sylvia Radin) on Dec. 19, Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Koss held open house at their home on Roselawn Ave., Mr.
and Mrs. David Radin entertained at Saks' on Dec. 26, Lt. and Mrs.
Jack Lovinger entertained the couple at the Book Casino.
Mrs. Marvin Last and daughter, Beverly, of Appoline Ave. have
left for Camp Cooke, Calif., to join Lt. Last who is assigned there
at the Station Hospital with the Dental Corps. '
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Bernstein of Chicago, Ill. who are the
guests of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Ill., Meyers
of Hazelwood Ave.- will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary
on Jan. 16 at an open house at which Mr. and Mrs. Meyers will be
hosts from 5 to 10 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Carron of Boston Blvd. are .spending the
holidays with their brother-in-law and sister, Lt. and Mrs. Jack
Greenberg, in Mobile, Ala., where Lt. Greenberg is stationed. They
will also visit in New Orleans.

15-day furlough.

Samuel Untermyer Bequeaths
$100,000 to Hebrew University
NEW YORK, (JTA)—The sum
of $100,000 is bequeathed to the
Hebrew University in Palestine
in the will of Samuel Untermyer,
the late Jewish leader, who died
on March 16, 1.940, it was dis-
closed here when a detailed list
of his bequests was made public.

Axelrod-Young: The marriage
of Miss Mildren Young, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Young,
and Robert Glenn Axelrod, son
of Dr. and. Mrs. M. L. Axelrod,
was performed on Dec. 19. The
bride and bridegroom are both
sophomores at the Wayne Uni-
versity College of Medicine.

MR. AND MRS. AARON WISPER
In honor of the golden wedding anniversary of his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Aaron Wisper, Lew Wisper has made a contribution of
$1,000 to the Youth Aliyah Fund of Hadassah, according to Mrs.
Morris Adler, president of the local chapter.
Mr. and Mrs. Wisper were married in Detroit and have lived
here 52 years. Mr. Wisper is a retired merchant.
Mr. and Mrs. Wisper have five children, Lew, Joseph and
Leonard Wisper, Mrs. Donald Levinson and Mrs. Hattie Schwartz.
There are five grandchildren, including Cpl. Arnold Wisper, a
Marine, stationed at Camp Eliot, San Diego, Calif., and Pvt. Bernard
Schwartz, Camp Grant, Ill.
