Full House Greets
Goldberg Concert

The all-Russian concert at the
Art Institute last Sunday night
given by Henri Goldberg, baH-
tone, merited the fine reception
of the audience that filled every
seat in the hall. While not the
first public appearance of this
fine artist in Detroit, it was his
first appearance before a Detroit
audience with a complete pro-
gram. Once postponed, because
of illness, the concert presented
a capable musician at pretty
close to his interpretive best in
a number of Russian songs, both
modern and traditional. Only in
the heavier Russian operatic ar-
ias was he at a slight disadvan
tage because of remaining traces
of a disabling cold. Mr. Goldberg
was assisted by Arthur Gross-
man, violinist. We want especial-
ly to compliment Rose Bassin-
Stein, pianist, who accompanied
the soloists, for her fine work
throughout the concert.
