Zadakah Club will meet Mon-

will take the form of a victory

Brochali Goldstein Auxiliary,
JCRS, of Denver held its first
meeting of the new season at the
home of Mrs. Henry Greenberg.
Plans were made for the fifth
donor luncheon to be held Tues-
day, Jan. 4, at the Statler Hotel.
Mrs. Greenberg was appointed
chairman of the luncheon and the
lollowing were named on her
committee: Mesdames Emil Edel-
'Son, Joseph Bakst, co-chairman;
Kate Wedes, publicity; Emil Edel-
son, ticket chairman.

Women's Organization will have
an open meeting next Tuesday
and will present Mrs. Nathan
Spevakow as speaker on the sub-
ject "Whither. the Jews?"

Women of Louis Marshall Lodge
of Bnai Brith will sponsor the
annual donor affair, at $6.50 per
person,• Dec. 5, at the Book Cad-
illac Hotel. Funds will be used
to fulfill pledges to Bnai Brith
Projects. A membership drive is
also being conducted. For tickets

Women's Auxiliary of Jewish
Home for Aged will hold its an-
nual membership paid-up party
Monday at the Home. At 1:30
p. m. a staff will be on hand to
collect dues, under the chair-
manship of Mrs. K. Faudam, fi-
nancial secretary. Admission will
be by membership card. There
will be card games under the
chairmanship of Mrs. H. Meer
and Mrs. M. Benach. Mrs. S.
Weller, chairman of hostesses,
will be in charge of refresh-
ments. Gifts to the Simcha and
Memorial Fund will be taken by
Mrs. S. Zeldes, TO. 6-4080.

FORM NEW. RED CROSS
CLASSES AT THE CENTER
Two standard Red Cross First
Aid classes are being given at
the Jewish Community Center.
on Tuesday and Thursday ev-
enings at 7:30. Members of the
Center and their friends are
urged to register for these
classes.

In response to a request- from
housewives, a First Aid Class
will be formed for afternoon
sessions if more than 20, women
are enrolled. Registrations may
be made by calling MA. 8400.

BARBARA CHASE GIVES
INSTRUCTION IN DANCING

An exponent of Cuban rhy-
thm, Miss Barbara Chase has been
engaged as dance instructor for
the Fall dance class to be con-
ducted at the Jewish Commun-
ity Center beginning Wednes-
day, Oct. 27, at 8:15 p. m. Class-
es will continue for eight weeks
and will include Rhumba and
Samba. Elementary classes in
Fox Trot and Waltz will also be
formed. Arrangements may be
made for private lessons, short
term courses, or small group
classes.
Miss Chase, formerly with the
Book-Cadillac School of Danc-
ing, and the Rodrigues School
of Dancing in New York, now
has her own school.
A nominal charge is made for
this dance - class. Registrations
should be made immediately by
calling MAdison 8400.

CENTER TO CLOSE FOR
SUCCOTH FESTIVAL
During the Succoth holiday
the Jewish Community Center
will be closed from Wednesday,
Oct. 20, 5 p. m., until Saturday,
Oct. 23, at 9 p. m.

Neugarten Medical Aid's 10th
annual donor luncheon will be
held at the Book Cadillac Dec. 1.
Mrs. Charles Rothstein is chair-
man. Rummage dates are avail-
able for prospective donors. For

Mrs. Benjamin Krell Jr., chair-
man of the war efforts commit-
tee, reports that two Singer
Stitchers were donated to the
Romulus Army Air Field. An ex-
ecutive board meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Lester
S. Smith on Monday.

Young Women's Bicur Cholem
Organization held a meeting at
the home of Mrs. H. Bookstein,
2434 Oakman Blvd., on Monday,
and made plans for a night of
games to take place Nov. 11 at
the Bnai David.

Rebecca Gratz Chapter of
Young Women of Bnai Brith will
hold a membership tea at 1 p. m.
Sunday at the home of Mrs. Aud-

Mrs. Leonard Sims, president of
Pisgah Auxiliary, will speak on
phases of Bnai Brith work. Miss
Reva Reichman of Wayne Read-
ers' Bureau will give interpre-
tive readings.

DEPICT SUCCOTH HARVEST
AT DANCE THIS SUNDAY
With decorations depicting the
Succoth harvest, the first in a
series of 1943-44 Holiday Hops
will get under way Sunday ev-
ening, Oct. 17, at the Jewish
Community Center. Bobby
Grayson will furnish the music
for this dance.
Holiday Hop committee mem-
bers will serve refreshments at
the dance. Admission is 55
cents. for Center members and
75 cents for non-members.

VICTORY GROUP TO SEND
GIFTS TO MEN IN SERVICE
The large number of Center
members who are in the armed
forces will receive news from
home and small gifts from the
Victory Group of the Jewish
Community Center. The girls in
this group, who last year enter-
tained out-of-towners and gave
parties in conjunction with the
U. S. 0. are sponsoring this new
project. The group will be glad
to hear from Center members
who are about to go into the
service.

MOTHERS' CLUBS PLAN
SEASON'S FIRST MEETINGS
The League of Jewish Wo-
men's Fall function on Tuesday,
Oct. 26, 1:30 p. in., at the Jewish
Center, will exhibit projects of
the constituent groups.
The Council of Mothers' Clubs
is one of the affiliates, and all
members of Mothers' Clubs are
urged to attend. Because of this
affair the Young Women's Study
Club will not hold its usual
meeting.
The following groups will fea-
ture their opening meeting of
the, season with musical pro-
grams:
Dexter Club, Tuesday, Oct. 26,
1:30 p. m., at Bnai Moshe, Law-
rence and Dexter.
Twelfth Street Mothers' Club,
Thursday, Oct. 28,, 8 p. m., at
Assembly Hall, 9125 Twelfth St.
Woodward Mothers' Club will
open the season with election
of officers on Wednesday, Oct.
27,. at 1:30 p. m. Since this is a
group of young mothers, ar-
rangenients have been made to
take care of their pre-school
children, under the direction of
a kindergarten teacher.
The Center Mother's ,Club will
hold the opening meeting of the
season Wednesday, Oct. 27; 8 p.
m., at the Center.

"SSENIPPAH" ORGANIZED
Ssenippah—"happiness" spell-
ed backwards—is the name of
the new club formed by 'some
Junior girls at the Jewish Com-
munity Center. The group meets
Friday afternoons and is form-
ulating plans for pentathlon
events and various crafts activi-
ties.

CHESS CLUB PLANS
LADDER TOURNAMENT
A ladder tournament to quali-
fy members for an all-Center
team is being sponsored by the
Center Chess Club which meets
each Tuesday evening at 8:30,
at the Jewish Community Cen-
ter. All who are interested are

son Black, tournament director.
