JERUSALEM, (JTA)—Elihau Sacharov, who at one time
-served as Dr. Chaim Weizmann's bodyguard, was sentenced
this week by a military court here to seven years imprison-
ment on the charge of possessing two bullets, one of which
was serviceable. Major Baxter was the prosecutor.
The trial lasted only one day. Mayor Israel Rokach of
Tel Aviv appeared in court as a character witness for Sacha-
rov. When cross-examined by Major Baxter, he stated that
he knew of the existence of the Jewish defense organization,
Haganah, and considered its establishment justified. He add-
ed that he did not know from what sources the Haganah se-
cures arms.

The name of King Gustav of Sweden

Reports coming over the Nazi radio in
Belgrade tell of a Jewish guerilla calling
himself Major Dickens, who has organized
underground resistance at the port of
Spalato.
Two days before Private Alton Levy
was judged guilty of making "false state-
ments" concerning the treatment of Negro
soldiers and of circulating slanderous re-
marks about the commanding officer and
his wife, the presiding officer at the court-
martial declared that the court believed
the prisoner not guilty, it was charged
here by the Workers' Defense League,
which is seeking to reopen the case.
Capt. Richard M. Rossbach, 28, of New
York City, recipient of the Silver Star
for an exploit in the earlier campaign in
Tunisia, in which he took six Germans
as prisoners, was reported by the War
Department to have been captured by the
Germans while in a raid behind enemy
lines in northern Sicily on August 11.
Arab Gets Six Weeks' Imprisonment in Arms Trial
JERUSALEM (JPS-Palcor)—A sentence of six weeks' im-
prisonment was passed on an Arab villager, Abed Mussa Shamali;
tried by a civil court for illegal possession of arms, an offense for

Italy, and two of them were among the first Allied troops to land
on the continent, it was disclosed here this week by Rabbi Louis
Rabinowitz, until recently the senior chaplain of the British Eighth
Army. After the fall of Crete, when 1,500 Palestine troops were
captured, there were only four Palestine units left, Major Rabinow-
itz said, while now there are 20,000 Jews from the Holy Land fight-
ing in the British Army.
