Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Meyer of Chicago Blvd. have as their
guests, Mr. Meyer's sister, Mrs. Bertha Anderson of Port Gibson,
Miss., and his cousin, Miss Anne Loewenstein of Mobile, Miss.
. Mr. and Mrs. Julian G. Wolfner of Burlington Rd. have returned
from a few days' trip to Minacqua,. Wis.
Mrs. William M. Fleischman of Muirland Ave. is spending a
week in Cleveland.
The Misses Henrietta and Setta Robinson will be returning
soon from a two week stay in Mackinac Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence EnggaSs of Cumberland Way were hosts
to a group of their friends at a 'dinner at the Franklin Hills Country
Club last Wednesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving L. Hirschman of Whitman 'Rd. are leaving
this Friday for New Haven, Conn., to visit their son, Cadet Frederick
Hirschman, who is receiving his Aviation Technical Training at
Yale University. They will also visit in Marblehead, Mass., and New
York City before returning home.
Mr. and Mrs. Saniuel Gross of Picadily Ave. and Mr. and
Mrs. George Golanty of Picadily Ave. have returned from a two
weeks' stay in Frankfort.
Mr. and Mrs. Felix Mahler of Whitmore Rd. are spending a
few days at St. Claire Inn, St. Claire, Mich.
Dr. and Mrs. Sydney K. Biegler of Huntington Woods are
leaving this Saturday on a Saguenay Bay cruise.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Rosenbaum of Boston Blvd. are leaving
this Friday for a stay, in Mackinac Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Royal Oppenheim of Prairie Ave. are planning
to leave this Saturday for Sturgeon Pointe, Mich. where they will
be the guests of Mrs. Oppenheim's parents; Mr. and Mrs. Alexander
Freeman.
Mrs. David Seiden of New York City is the house guest of
her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Landau of
Longfellow Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rothberg of Chicago Blvd. and Mr. and
Mrs. Emanuel J. Harris of Fairfield Ave. left last Monday on a
Georgian Bay cruise.
Pvt. Irving Goldman, who is stationed at Camp Riley, • Kansas,
is spending a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Goldman of Canterbury Rd.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown of Warrington Rd. have• returned
from a month's stay at Goderich, Ont.
Mr. and Mrs. Shirley J. Wayburn of Lichfield Ave. have
returned from a visit in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence C. Crohn have returned from a two
weeks' stay in Columbus, Ga., where they visited with their son,
Lt, David Crohn, who is stationed at Fort Benning. •
Howard Rothberg of Chicago Blvd. has returned from a week's
stay at the Edgewater Beach Hotel where he was the guest of
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Herman of Chicago and South Bend. Their
daughter, Miss Geraldine Herman, spent a few days here as the
guest of Howard's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rothberg.
Miss Anna Rose Hersh of Webb Ave. left on Monday to spend
a fortnight in Ogunquit, Me.
Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Lewis of Chicago Blvd: are vacationing
in Gladstone, Mich.
Cpl. Elliot Lipson, who is stationed at Camp Ellis, Ill., arrived
on Wednesday to spend a few days' furlough with Mrs. Lipson who
is at present making her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Gordon of Parkside Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Fox of Kentucky Ave. will return shortly
from a St. Lawrence River cruise.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Marks of Broadstreet Ave. are returning
this Saturday from a few days' trip to Buffalo.
Ben Krell of Dexter Blvd. left on Tuesday on a St. Lawrence
River cruise.
Mrs. Harry Weitzenbaum of Atkinson Ave. is spending a month
at North Conway, N. H.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gunsberg and their daughter, Marion, of
Pasadena Ave. have returned from a two weeks' stay in Frankfort.
Rabbi and Mrs. Leonard Kasle, their daughter, Barbara; and
son, Roger, have returned to their home in Charlotsville, Va.,
following a month's visit with the Rabbi's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Abe Kasle, at their summer home at Scott Lake.
Mrs. Samuel Rhodes of W. Outer Dr. has returned from a few
weeks' visit in New York City.
Mr.. and Mrs. Benjamin Krell Jr. and their daughter, Elaine,
of Cortland Ave. are spending a few weeks in Frankfort.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Helper of Atkinson Ave. have returned
from a week's stay at the Thendara Country Club, Oakland County,
Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. David Berger of Chicago Blvd. have returned
from a two weeks' visit in Charlevoix.
Dr. and Mrs. Noah Aronstam of Eason Ave. have returned from
a six weeks' trip to New York City and New Orleans, La.
Capt. and Mrs. H. A. Chapnick and children are here to attend
the Bar Mitzvah of Seymour L. Muskovitz, this Saturday. Capt.
Chapnick is stationed with the Medical Corps at Ft. Custer.
On the occasion of the birthday of their mother, Mrs. Miriam
K. Slobin, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Adelman (Esther Slobin) enter-
tained relatives and friends at a dinner at the Book Cadillac Hotel
on Aug. 5. Mrs. Slobin is leaving for a month's stay at Marquette,
Mich.
Cantor Saul Silverman of Temple Israel, Hollywood, Calif.,
is visiting with his family in Detroit.
Miss Evelyn Rothenberg of 2654 Elmhurst Ave. was entertained
by a group of friends on Aug. 8 on her 16th birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Levy are this week celebrating their 25th
wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Dave Wolf and children, Jack, Jerry and Gloria, are
vacationing at the Lakeview Inn, Charlevoix, Mich., where they
will remain until Labor Day.

Provides Scholarships
For Talented Musicians

The Sylvia Simons Memorial
Scholarship Fund of the Music
Study Club of Detroit has re-
ceived contributions in memory
of Sylvia Simons. from Mrs.
Laura S. Simons, Nathan and
Seymour Simons and Miss Hat-
tie Gittleman; and in honOr of
six confirmants from Mrs. J. S.
Sauls.
This fund, established to per-
petuate the memory of a well
beloved and outstanding musi-
cian, provides scholarships for
talented young people.

5 Jews Make 'V' Sign
In Tangiers, Arrested

LONDON, (JTA)—Five Jews
here have been arrested by Span-
ish authorities in the interna-
tional concession of Tangiers,
Spanish North Africa, and are
being held in prison for making
the "V" sign, it is reported here
this week.
Several weeks ago the Tangiers
authorities arrested a number of
Jewish youths who had volun-
teered for work in French North
Africa, but released them after
protests by the British consul.
