Miss Springer Weds
Detroit Serviceman

Mrs. Sidney Allen and her son, Jay, of Lincolnshire Dr. left
on Monday to spend a month in Arizona and California.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian Wolfner and their daughter, Isabel, of
Burlington Dr. are expected home this week-end from a two
weeks' visit in Boston and New York City.
Mrs. Benjamin Lambert and Miss Emma Butzel of the Belcrest
Hotel have left for Mackinac Island where they expect to spend a
month at the Grand Hotel.
Mrs. Leo Croll and her children of Fairfield Ave. left last
Saturday for White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., to spend the summer
with Capt. Croll who is stationed at the Ashford General Hospital.
Pvt. Irving William Oberfelder is spending his 15-day furlough
from Camp Walters, Texas, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irving
Oberfelder of Canterbury Rd. Upon his return, he expects to
enter school to be trained as an Air Corp Flying Cadet.

Mrs. David J. Levy of Boston Blvd. has as her guests her son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David J. Levy of New York
City.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Friedgood of 3229 Webb Ave. will cele-
brate their 40th wedding anniversary. Reception on Sunday eve-
ning, July 18. No cards.
Miss Reva Cohen recently returned from a 10-day sojourn in
Chicago, where she was a guest at Del Prado Hotel. Miss Natalie
Rosenblum of St. Paul, Minn., is now her guest. here.
Mr. and Mrs. Maier B. Finsterwald of. Parkside Ave. are leav-
ing this Saturday for Mackinac Island where they expect to spend
a few weeks at the Grand Hotel.
James Zuckerman, John Redfield and Robert Wolf spent the
last week-end visiting here with their families. They are attend-
ing the American School of Television in. Chicago, training for the
signal corps.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hartman of Chicago Blvd. left on Monday
on a cruise to Duluth.
Sgt. Technician David S. Hershman, who has been stationed in
Iceland for the last year, is spending a three weeks' furlough with
his parents, Dr. and Mrs. A. M. Hershman, before leaving for his
new post at Camp Atterbury, Ind.
Mrs. Charles Feinberg has returned from Battle Creek, Mich.,
where she spent a few days visiting with her mother, Mrs. Harry
Brown.
Lt. and Mrs.. Samuel Gingold have returned to Temple, Texas,
following a visit with Mrs. Gingold's mother, Mrs. Joseph Ehrlich
of the Belcrest Hotel. Lt. Gingold is stationed at Camp Hood.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Schembeck of Monte Vista Ave. left on
Sunday on the S.S. South American on a cruise to Duluth.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon S. Wayburn and their daughter, Nancy,
of Wisconsin Ave. and Mr. and Mrs. Kurt West of Vassar Dr. have
returned from a week's stay in Oscoda, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney J. Karbel and their children of Ohio Ave.
have returned from a few days' stay at Greenbush Inn.
Mrs. Adolph Ehrlich of Calvert Ave. has returned from a
weeks' visit in New York City.
Dick Hartman, who has enlisted in the U. S. Navy, is stationed
at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Hartman of Chicago Blvd.
Mrs. Irving Goldman and her children of Muirland Ave. are
spending the summer in Charlevoix, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Edmund B. Linx of Byron Ave. have returned
from a few days' stay in New York City where they went to visit
their son, Seaman II Class Edmund B: Linx, Jr., who had just
returned from overseas.
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert M. Smith of Shrewsbury Rd. have re-
turned from a week's visit in Bayfield, Ont.
Rev. and Mrs. Rine of Hazelwood Ave. have as their guests
their son and daughter-in-law, Rabbi and Mrs. Aaron Rine, of
South Bend, Ind.
Pfc. William J. Saulson has returned to his post at. Kearns,
Utah, following a 10-day furlough spent with his mother, Mrs.
Lillian Saulson of Mgck Ave.
Pvt. Philip Danzig, son of Mrs. Fanny Danzig of Clairmount
Ave., was home on furlough. from Camp Callan, Calif., and was
extensively entertained by friends. Before he returned to camp he
was honored at a party given by his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs.
Geo. Moskowitz of Blaine Ave.
Dr. and Mrs. Shmarya Kleinman are spending the month of
July in Boston, Mass., where Dr. Kleinman is taking a post-grad-
uate course in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease at
Harvard Medical School.
Miss Peggy Zipper of Baldwin, L. I., is visiting her uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Levy of 4067 Pasadena Ave.
Mrs. Max Fertel and daughter, Shirley, and Mrs. H. Gottlieb
are vacationing at Lake George, N. Y., and will spend a few days
in New York City before returning to Detroit.
Mrs. Mildred Schumer left on Wednesday morning to visit with
friends and relatives in Rochester, N. Y. She will also visit in New
York City for a couple of weeks.
Mrs. Irving Berkowitz of Rochester, N. Y., former Detroiter,
visited here with her parents and friends.

Installs Officers
At Final Meeting

Pioneer Women's Branch 1
held its final meeting of the sea-
son at Lachar's, and installed the
following new officers:
Chairman, Mrs. S. Levin; Vice-
chairman, Mrs. R. Lincky; record-
ing secretary, Mrs. H. Nelson;
corresponding secretary, Mrs. M.
Kurtzman; financial secretary,
Mrs. A. Alpert; treasurer, Mrs. S.
Jacobs.

The secretaries, Mrs. S. Levin

year's activities. Over $12,000 was
raised last year by this group—
$4,200 for Moatzoth Poaloth, in-
cluding the Vocational School for
Girls; $4,500 for Child Rescue
Fund; over $1,000 for J. N. F.;
$500 for Gewerkshaften, and sub-
stantial sums for other projects,
such as political emergency fund,
United Jewish War Effort, Far-.
band Folk School, youth move-
ment.
According to Mrs. Mondry, this
group has a great share in the
sale of War Bonds enabling the
purchase of a bomber in the
name of the Pioneer Women's
grganizatioAl.

MRS. CYRIL N. SCHWARTZ

The marriage of Miss Deborah
Springer, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Springer of Penn-
ington Drive, and Cpl. Cyril
Schwartz, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice H. Schwartz of Birch-
crest Drive, was solemnized on
Friday, July 9, at Alexandria,
La.

Rabbi S. M. Lefkowitz, Chap-
lain at Camp Livingston, Louisi-
ana, performed the ceremony.

Mrs. Springer and Mrs.
Schwartz, mothers of the bride
and bridegroom, attended the
ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of
Central High School and attend-
ed the University of Michigan
during the past two years. She
is a member of Alpha Epsilon
Phi Sorority.

The bridegroom is a graduate
of St. Johns Military Academy,
Delafield, Wis., and was a stu-
dent at Michigan State College,
East Lansing, Mich., at the time
of his enlistment six months ago.
He was a student of the Univer-
sity of Detroit before entering
Michigan State College.
