The two brothers are gradu-
ates of the Jarvis Collegiate In-
stitute, the University of To-
ronto, and the Jewish. Theologi-
•cal Seminary of New York.

National Religious Welfare Com-
mittee of the War Efforts Section
of the . Canadian Jewish Con-
gress. He went overseas in 1941.
Lt. Levi' served the Jewish
:communities of Birmingham,
Ala., and Auburn, N. Y., before
accepting a call from the Cen-
tral Synagogue of Sydney, Aus-
tralia: After • Pearl Harbor he
was inducted into the American
Army and has been serving in
that theater since.
For the past six months, Lt.
Levi has served principally in
jungle outposts. On Passover, he
made provision for a Seder for
300 servicemen, but 600 turned
out to attend the services and.: to
celebrate. the PassOver . 4vith their
fellow JeWs.

Capt. Levi and Lt. Levi have a
sister, Mrs. Meyer Weisenfeld,
and two brothers, Abbe and Da- .
Yid S. Levi, in Detroit. Another
sister, Mrs. Moses Jung of • New
York, is the wife of Dr. -Jung,.
formerly of the faculty of the
University of Iowa and now as-
sociated with the American Jew-
ish Committee. In Toronto, there
is another brother, Donald M.,
and two sisters, Mrs. Meyer Rot-
enberg of the department . of
.physics of the University of To-;
ronto and Mrs. Samuel Godfrey.
A fifth sister, Mrs. Ira D. Maxon,
resides in Moline, Ill.
Their Detroit .relatives include

Sgt. Shear was
attached to the
S/S Shear
medical corps at
Camp Grant, Illinois, before be-
ing transferred to Walter Reed
Hospital, Washington.
After helping to open the
Percy Jones Hospital in Battle
Creek last year, Sgt. Shear gave -
up his stripes to volunteer in the
paratroops. . Promotion to staff
sergearit came almost immediate-
ly upon completion of his train-
ing in the paratroops at Ft.
Benning, Georgia.
Sgt. Shear'S brother, Irwin, 24,
left- a shipyard defense job in the
east .recently to join the Navy's
construction battalion (SeabeeS)
