Israel Sisterhood
Election on June 14

Temple Israel Sisterhood will
hold the final meeting of the year
on Monday, June 14, 12:30 p. m.,
at the home of Mrs. Benjamin
Jaffee in Huntington Woods. Tak-
ing the form of a picnic, members
are asked to come in picnic
clothes and to bring box lunches.
It will be a closed meeting for

ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Becsky, who are leaving Detroit to make
their home in Los Angeles, were honored at a farewell gathering
last Sunday night by First Hebrew Congregation of Delray and i±s
Ladies' Auxiliary. More than 200 people were present. The toast-
masters were Dr. Eugene J. Steinberger and Leo Feder. Addresses
were delivered by Sam Klein, president of the congregation;
William B. Stearn, vice-president; Louis Tischler, secretary; Mrs.
Clara Lebovitz, president of the Auxiliary; Mrs. Fanny Kohn
and Rabbi Ernest E. Greenfield.
Mrs. Julius Hartman of Edison Ave. has returned from Chicago
Where she visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. David
Finegold.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Becsky of West Jefferson Ave. left on June
1 for Sherman. Oaks Calif., where they will make their home.
In celebration of their 45th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs.
Alex Friedman were honored at a surprise party given by the;r
daughter, Mrs. J. Wasserman of Glendale Ave. Among the out-of-
town guests were Mrs. 0. Braun, Mrs. George Grossman and Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Becker of Cleveland. Their son, Cpl. Jerome S.
Friedman, was home on a 15-day furlough from his post • at Fort •
Louis, Wash.
Mrs. Kurt Ellenbogen has returned from a two-months' stay in
St. Petersburg, Fla.
Miss Joyce Cantor of Chicago Blvd., has returned to her home
after a few weeks' stay in Tuscon, Ariz.
Lt. Nathan Starman of 2605 Elmhurst Ave., son of Mrs. Rose
Starman, arrived at his post at Stuttgart, Ark. His wife and daughter
plan to join him next month.
Dr. and Mrs. Sidney 0. Siegan and children have returned to
their home on Cherrylawn Ave. after a seven-week stay in Tuscon,
Ariz.
Mrs. Frank I. Wasser (Ethel Kutnick) has returned to Detroit
after a stay with her husband, Pfc. Frank I. Wasser, at Mt. Rainier
Ordnance Base, Tacoma, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Sydney J. Zweig (Kitty Schwartz) of Cleveland,
and their small son, Martin Edward, are spending a few days with
their sister, Miss Sophie Blanche Schwartz of 3310 RoChester Ave.
Dr. and Mrs. Jules M. Goldsmith of Cherrylawn Ave. had as •
week-end guests their brother, Israel Pearlman and his son, Tommy,
and daughters, Alice and Leila, of Providence, R.. I. Miss Alice
Pearlman has just received her A. B. degree and Teacher's Certifi-
cate from the University of Michigan. En route home she will visit •
her fiance, Philip Mandel, in Washington, D. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben J. Rudin of 3233 Collingwood Ave. honored
the 16th birthday of their daughter, Ruth, With a formal dance at
the Lee Plaza.
Mr. and Mrs. Morry M. Fenton and daughter, Arlene Beverly,
formerly of LaSalle Blvd., have moved to the Book-Cadillac Hotel.
Capt. and Mrs. Herman M. Chesluk (Marian Neidorff) have
returned to Carlisle, Pa., after a week-end at Baltimore, Md., where
they were honored at a wedding reception at the home of Cantor
and Mrs. Max Kotlowitcz. Among the out of town guests were Capt.
Chesluk's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Chesluk, his sister, Mr.
Regina Winshall of Detroit Mrs. Max Weine of Camden, N. J., and
Mrs. David Frankel of Philadelphia.. Capt. Chesluk is temporarily
stationed at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa.
