SOCIAL EVENTS NEWS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN
ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wineman of Hamilton Dr., Mr. and Mrs.
Mortimer H. Meyer of Suffolk Dr., and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farb-
' sten of Burlington Dr., left last Saturday for Phoenix, Ariz., to
attend the marriage of Helene Lindenbaum and their nephew,
Lt. Charles J. Victor, which took place on Monday, at the West-
ward Ho Hotel. They will go on to Los Angeles, Calif., where
they will spend a few weeks before returning home.
Complimenting Miss Peggy Jayne Wallace, whose marriage
to Stanley Jay Winkelman will be an event of March 27, Mrs.
Lewis H. Carlson of Calvert Ave. and Mrs. Morry Fenton. of La-
Salle Blvd.,
Blvd. entertained at a luncheon Tuesday at Huylers; Wednes-
day, Mrs.
Leiter of Chicago Blvd. was hostess at a luncheon
at the Book Cadillac; and on Friday, Mrs. Walter Field gave a
luncheon at her home on Cherrylawn Ave. This Saturday Mesdames
Robert Janeway, Dan Krouse, Tobias Garon, J. L. Dunn, David
Hirsch and Sanford Klein are giving a tea at Mrs. Janeway's
home on Canterbury Rd., and preceding the tea, Miss June Rosen-
blum and, Mrs. Seymour Lewis will be hostesses at a luncheon in
Miss Wallace's honor.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Enggass of Cumberland Way have re-
turned from Phoenix, Ariz., where they visited their son, Robert,
who is attending a flying school there.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Weisman of Boston Blvd. returned list
Sunday from Miami Beach, Fla., where they visited their son,
Pvt. Miller Weisman, who is „stationed there.
Walter Laib of Strathcona Dr., is vacationing at a ranch in
Arizona.
Mrs. Samuel J. Lewis of Longfellow Ave., has left for Hobbs,
New Mexico, where she will spend a few weeks visiting with her
son-in-law and daughter, Lt. and Mrs. I. Sackman Marx. Lt. Marx
is a pilot flyer.
Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Simons of Wildemere Ave. entertained
a group of friends at dinner at their home last Saturday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Felix Mahler of LaSalle Blvd. are sojourning
in Palm Springs, Calif.
Miriam L. Brachman of the Chatham Apts. spent a few days
in Chicago last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin H. Baer of Fairfield Ave. are spending a
week in New York City.
Mrs. David Lichtig of Indiana Ave. left on March 12 for Wash-
ington, D. C., where she will visit with her son-in-law and daugh-
ter, Ensign and Mrs. Herman J. Bloom.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Krouse of Normandy Ave. are spending
a month in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Walter Schoenbach of Chicago is visiting her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Ziv of Wildemere Ave.
Cpl. and Mrs. Bernard M. Brown are spending two weeks
with Mrs. Brown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Nibbler of Buena
Vista Ave., Corp. Brown is on furlough from his post at Camp
Wallace, Texas.
Dr. and Mrs. Peter M. Bernstein of Boston Blvd. have as their
guest, their son, Lt. Aleck Block, who is on a 10-day leave from
his post with the U. S. Marines at Quantico, Va.
Mrs. Seymour Friedman left last Sunday for Dayton, 0., where
Capt. Friedman is stationed following a 10-day visit with relatives
and friends.
Mrs. Jacob Mazer of the Wilshire Hotel is visiting in New
York City.
Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Spero of Birchcrest Dr. are expected
home this week-end following a week's visit in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. Schreiber and son of Stratford Rd.
are visiting in Chicago.
Mrs. Anne Seegman, formerly of Taylor Ave., Detroit, is now re-
siding at the Melrose Hotel, Chicago, Ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert H. Warner are guests at the Westward. Ho
Hotel in Phoenix, Ariz., for an indefinite stay.
Pauline Max has returned from a six weeks' stay in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Daniel E. Cohn and her three small daughters of Santa Bar-
bara Dr. are visiting Mrs. Cohn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. Mann-
heimer in Miami Beach, Fla.
Complimenting their sister, Miss Sue Anspach, who left on
March 7 for Washington, D. C. where she will receive training prior
to her leaving for overseas duty with the American Red Cross, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert D. Anspach entertained at a cocktail party last Sun-
day at their home on Vassar Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clark of Parkside Ave. and Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice Safir left last Saturday to spend a few weeks in Miami
Beach, Fla.
Marriages
Winkelman - Landsberg: The
English Room of the Book Cad-
illac Hotel was the scene of a
lovely wedding on Sunday after-
noon, when Dr. B. Benedict
Glazer performed the ceremony
which united in marriage Miss
Ethel Lila Landsberg and En-
sign Howard Alfred Winkelman,
U. N. R. The bride is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lands-
berg of Roselawn Ave., and the
groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Heiman Winkelman of Chicago,
The bride was exquisite in her
gown of ivory satin and finger-
tip veil which was held in place
with orange blossoms. She car-
ried a Bible and orchids.
Mrs. Milton Stikler was mat-
ron of honor. Miss Barbara
Landsberg was her sister's
bridesmaid. Little Anne King
was the flower girl.
William Goldstein was best
man, and the ushers were Rob-
ert Winkelman, the groom's
brother, and Gene Winkelman,
his cousin.
A wedding lunch was served
immediately after the ceremony.
Ensign Winkelman and his
bride left for Chicago where he
will assume his duties as in-
structor in ordnance at North-
western University.
Among the out-of-town guests
were: Mrs. H. Leavy of New
York City; Mr. and Mrs. John W.
Morgan, of Saginaw; Mr. and
Mrs. Alvin Winkelman of Port
Huron; Mr. and Mrs. Abe Grin-

Weinstein - Sehlussel: At a
beautiful candelight ceremony in
the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue,
on Sunday evening, Shirley
Dean Schlussel, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Schlussel of Chi-
cago Blvd., was united in mar-
riage to Yale Weinstein, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Julius L. Wein-
stein, of Utica, N. Y. Rabbi
Morris Adler and Cantor Jacob
Sonenklar officiated.
The bride's twin sister, Mrs.
Abe Kahn, was her matron of
honor, and Hilliard Aronov of
Montgomery, Ala., served as best
man.
