War Bond Drive
To End March 17
Detroit Women's Division of
the American Jewish Congress is
in the midst of a campaign to
sell $500,000 of U. S. War Bonds.
This amount signifies the amount
necessary to purchase a bomber
which will be inscribed with the
name of the American Jewish
Congress of Detroit.
Mrs. Samuel A. Singer is chair-
man of the drive, which must be
completed by March 17, the 69th
birthday of Dr. Steven S. -Wise
in whose honor the nationwide
$8,000,000 campaign is being held.
A telephone call to the Con-
gress office, 527 Barium Tower,
RAndolph 7550, will bring a bond
salesperson to the caller's home,
or checks may be mailed to this
office and the Bonds will be
mailed to purchasers. Checks
should be made payable to the
Federal Reserve Bank.
Detroit Unit of Junior Hadas-
sah will hold a joint meeting
with the Little Women of Hadas-
sah, at the Statler Hotel, Sunday
at 2 p. m. •
The program will include a
symposium on "The American
Jew" led by Mrs. Morris Adler,
and participated in by Beth
Laikin, of Little Women, and
Edith Wiener and Ida Sandra
Milstein, of Junior Hadassah.
Shirley Hyman will give dra-
matic readings.

Miss Bette Lou Shlain who is attending Rockwood Park School
in Jamaica Plain, Boston, Mass., is spending her spring vacation with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Shlain of Fullerton Ave. Miss
Shlain has as her guest Miss Sophie Needleman of Newport, Vt.; who
is also a student at Rockwood Park School.
Mrs. R. Tuchow of Montreal is visiting her children, Mr. and
Mrs. M. Tuchow of Gladstone Ave., and will he here a month.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rosenstein of South Bend, Ind. who were
the guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Siegel of Pennington

Lt. Carl Gussin, who spent the preceding week-end with his
family, Dr. and Mrs. M. E. Bachman and Max Gussin, of Parkside
Ave., left for duty on the coast.
Lt. Benjamin B. Hertz, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Hertz, who
recently was promoted from 2nd to 1st Lieutenant, visited with his
family last week and was honored at a number of parties by rela-
tives and friends. He returned by plane to his station at Fort Sam
Houston, Texas.
Ensign and Mrs. Leonard Mirvis (Goldie June Fried) are now
residing . at 61 W. 10th St., New York. Ensign Mirvis is stationed at
the Brooklyn Navy Yards.
Cpl. Max Fried of the U.S. Army Air Corps Signal Detachment,
was granted a 14-day furlough from his post in Grayland, Wash-
ington, where he has been stationed for the past year and a half.
En route from Washington, he visited with his sister and brother-in-
law, Capt. and Mrs. S. C. Grossman, in Kalamazoo. Captain Grossman
is stationed with the United States Recruiting and Induction Station.
