NEW YORK (JPS).—Whether
an American Jewish Assembly
will be held, as scheduled, with
the participation of national
Jewish organizations, will be de-
termined here Sunday, March
7, at a meeting of the executive
committee entrusted with the
planning of the Assembly, first
authorized at the Pittsburgh
conference called by Bnai Brith.

Zionists Back Assembly
NEW YORK (JPS).—The Na-
tional administrative council of
the Zionist Organization of Am-
erica went on record here en-
dorsing the convening of the
American Jewish Assembly, re-
newed a plea for "a Jewish
fighting force under the United
Nations command," and asked
"the justice-loving nations of the
world to rescue the crushed
masses of European Jewry."
The administrative council is-
-4#, sued a resolution deploring the
activities of the American Coun-
cil for Judaism. The stand of
the recently-formed organization
would "condemn the homeless
Jews of Europe and elsewhere to
lives of continued misery and
woe," the resolution read>
During the first two weeks of
February sales of war bonds
among Zionist members had ex-
ceeded $6,250,000.

Resigns From A. J. C.
BALTIMORE (JPS). Dr.
Harry Friedenwald, Baltimore,
long a member of the American
Jewish Committee, has resigned
from that organization in pro-
test against the election of Joseph
M. Proskauer as president, it
was revealed here.
Dr. Friedenwald, former presi-
dent of the Zionist Organization
of America, sent his resignation
to a fellow Baltimorean, Jacob
Blaustein, chairman of the exec-
utive committee of the American
Jewish Committee.

Dr. Leon A. Katzin announces
the association of Dr. Henry H.
Berris, in the practice of dent-
istry, at 911 Stroh Building.
Dr. Berris, who recently was
graduated from the University of
Michigan, is a member of Alpha
Omega Fraternity. He received
his Bachelor of Science Degree
at Wayne University, where he
was captain of the Varsity basket
ball team during his sophomore
year and is still recognized as one
of the all-time basketball stars.
Dr. Berris has accepted the ap-
pointment as one of the dentists
for the Jewish Children's Bureau.
He is married to the former
Eileen Schiller and they reside

garden, Perry Burnstine, Samuel
Katkin, Lew Levitt, Joshua
Sperka, Samuel Green, Jacob
Lattin, Arthur Gould, Morris
Mendelson.
A report on the progress of the
drive will be submitted at the
next meeting of the Women's
Division on March 10, at the De-
troit Institute of Arts.
A feature of the meeting will
be the presentation "Women at
War," with music, under the di-
rection of Mrs. Saul Makman.
The script was written by Mrs.
William Gottesman. A represent-
ative of the Canadian Jewish
Congress will be a guest.
Mrs. Moe Perlis, vice-president
