Rabbi Groner Talks
At JNF Auxiliary
Donor Event Rally
Mrs. Henry Soss of Bloomfield Hills is visiting with her family
in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Enggass of Cumberland Way are leaving
this Friday for Phoenix, Ariz., where they will visit their son,
Robert, who is attending a flying school there.
Mrs. Samuel J. Levin of Canterbury Rd. is visiting with her
husband, Lieut. Commander Levin, who is stationed in Norfolk, Va.
Mrs. Robert J. Newman of Canterbury Rd. is spending some
time in Hollywood, Fla., visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
Rosenthal.
Capt. A. Max Kohn, M. C., and Mrs. Kohn will return from
Camp Harahon on Feb. 9 for a seven-day visit and will be the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel S. Greenberg at 9015 La Salle Blvd.
Miller Weisman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Weisman of Boston
Blvd., left last Friday for Camp Custer.
Mr. and Mrs. Miles B. Finsterwald of Chicago Blvd. have left
for Palm Beach, Fla.
- Mr. and Mrs. Robert Amberg have moved from Whitmore Rd.
and are now residing at 709 Chicago Blvd.
Mrs. Miriam Brachman of the Chatham Apt. has returned from
a week's stay in New York City.
Complimenting Miss Mignon Hamburger, whose marriage to
Eugene Kraft will take place on Feb. 25, Miss Selma Roberts and
Miss Muriel Steinberg were hostesses at a luncheon at the Book-
Cadillac Hotel on Saturday, Jan. 23., On Saturday, Feb. 6, Mrs. A.
Anthony Fromm of Huntington Woods will give the spinster
luncheon for her niece at Huyler's in the Fisher Bldg.
Mrs. Bert Silverman of the Belcrest Hotel left on Monday for
Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Kahn have moved from Connecticut Ave. and
are now residing at 1505 Chicago Blvd.
Lieut. Commander R. Robert Kallman returned on Sunday to his
post at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, following a few days'
leave spent with his family. -
Mrs. Max J. Weinberg of Warrington Rd. and Mrs. Norman
Buchner of Pontiac left Tuesday to spend a month in Los Angeles,
Calif.
Mrs. -Barney Israel has left for Columbus where she will join
her husband Capt. Israel, who is stationed at Fort Hayes.
Ensign M. D. Lieberman will leave on Friday for his post on
the east coast following a - 10-day leave spent with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Benjamin Lieberman of Chicago Blvd.
Mrs. Milton Alexander and her daughter, Helen, have return-
ed from Cleveland where they spent a few days visiting with
relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Strauss of the Chatham Apts. have re-
turned from a two week's trip to New York City.
Mrs. Nellie Kahn of Waverly Ave. left on Tuesday for Los
Angeles where she will spend the remainder of the winter.
Ensign Marvin Herbert Goldman, who recently was graduated
from University of Notre Dame, spent a day with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Goldman of Canterbury Rd., enroute to his post
at Norfolk, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. James L. Stein of Northlawn Ave. and Mr. and
Mrs. Harold N. Ehrlich have returned from a short trip to St.
Joseph, Mich. •
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Feinberg of Boston Blvd. have as their
guest Mr. Feinberg's brother, Corp. Frank Feinberg, who is on a
10-day furlough from his post at Fort Lawton, Seattle, Wash.
Capt. A. Joseph Himmelhoch has been transferred from the
O'Reilly General Hospital in Springfield, Mo., to Camp Barkley,
Abilene, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan H. Schermer of the Lee Crest Apt. have as
their guest Mrs. Schermer's sister, Miss Lucile Michaelson, who is on
a six-day leave from her duties as dietician at Camp McCoy, Wis.
Mrs. Emil Loewenberg and Mrs. Milton Kuttnauer of the Bel-
crest Hotel are spending the remainder of the winter in Miami
Beach, Fla.
Miss Shirley Shear of • Brooklyn, N. Y., who is spending a two
weeks' vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shear of 2974 Carter
Ave., is being entertained by her many Detroit friends.
Herbert J. Eder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Eder of
Sturtevant Ave. has received his D.D.S. degree from the University
of Michigan.
Mrs. Sidney L. Alexander is visiting her son, Lt. Sidney L.
Alexander, Jr., in New Hampshire, this week.
The family of Capt. Irving B. Shulak, M. C., stationed at the
Bushnell General Hosp., Brigham City, Utah, have left Detroit to
take up residence in that city. Mrs. Shulak and the children,
Marlen and Bruce, left recently. Captain Shulak was a recent
visitor, spending five days here, before going to New York to visit
his mother, Mrs. Katherine Shulak, in Rochester.
Lt. (j.g.) Arthur Pollack, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Pollack of
2496 Virginia Park, left Detroit last Tuesday to join his squadron
in the United States Naval 'Air Corps.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Cohen of Collingwood Ave., entertained
on Jan. 24 at a dinner in honor of their son and daughter-in-law,
Sgt. Technician and Mrs. Sol Cohen (Viola Shulman), who were
home on furlough from Drew Field, Fla.
Mrs. Abraham M. Danzig of Wyandotte, vice-president and
western regional chairman of the Mizrachi Women's Organization
of America, orthodox Zionist women's movement, will leave De-
troit on Feb. 8 for a tour in behalf of the organization which will
take her to St. Louis, Little Rock, Houston, San Antonio, Los
Angeles, San- Francisco, Denver and Chicago. Her trip will coves
almost a month, through March 2. She will consult with leaders
of the Mizrachi women in those cities on local and national
problems.

1920, is cooperating with the Of-
fice of Civilian Defense, Red
Cross, USO, and other war serv-
ice agencies.
An interesting program has
been arranged for the general
meeting of Junior Hadassah to
be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday at
Hotel Statler. Girls of 18 and
over are invited.
New Name For London
Under the German occupation
of Czecho-Slovakia the name of
the Czech town, Kromeriz, ac-
quired a special significance.
When the Czech people refer to
the London broadcast, they ask,
"What's new in Kromeriz." The
literal translation of this name is
Outside Reich.

transfers children from Europe
and the Middle East to Palestine.
The organization also carries on
an extensive program of Jewish
education. Every year those
members who attain high ratings
in studies covering a three-year _
course in Jewish history and lite-
rature, religious customs and He-
brew, are honored by member-
ship in the Cultural Fellowship
Society.
Funds earned at this luncheon
will be used for the many proj-
