Women's Clubs
Junior Home Relief Society
celebrated the 13th year of its
existence. The organizer was
Mrs. Harry Shulman. The
group's primary object is to give
lunches and clothing to indigent
school children. As the member-
ship grew, the program broaden-
ed to include sending handi-
capped children to a summer
camp, and hospital visits to ailing
chilren. At present, also, mem-_
bers are devoting their energies
to war efforts, including USO and
Red Cross activities. The lunch-
eon on Jan. 24 which marked the
13th anniversary required as an
"admission fee" bundles of cloth-
ing which were sorted and dis-
tributed to needy girls. Bertha
Berkin is president of Junior
Home Relief Society.

Department of M i c h i g a
Lathes' Auxiliary of Jewish War
Veterans-- of the United States
sponsored an evening of enter-
tainment and music on Jan. 28,
for the patients of the Veteran's
Facilities Hospital, at Dearborn.
The program was furnished by
the Crescent Choral Negro Group.
The chairman of hospitilization,
Mrs. Ruth Schrieber, and her
committee later distributed gifts
of toilet necessities to all patients
in the hospital who are veterans
Of World War I and the present
war.
The Jewish Veterans' Auxiliary
is sponsoring classes in citizen-
ship at the Yeshivah on Dexter
and Cortland and the County
Bldg., on Tuesday and Thursday
nights at the Yeshivah and Mon-
days and Wednesday nights in
Room 23 of the County Bldg.

board members will be compli-
mente'd at a breakfast meeting
at the home of Mrs. Samuel B.
Danto, 2224 Chicago Blvd., at
10:30 a. m. on Monday. Plans
will be formulated for a mem-
bership drive., Mrs. Roy Sarason,
vice-president in charge of pro-
grams, is working on this subject
in cooperation with Mrs. Danto,
vice-president in charge of mem-
bership.

No. 122 will hold a membership
meeting at Bnai Moshe, Dexter
and Lawrence, at 1 p. m. on
Monday. Prof. Alfred M. Kelly
of Wayne University will be the
speaker. Mothers of the young
women of Bnai Brith and of
members of Hillel Foundations
are to be guests of the auxiliary.

will hold a Valentine supper
party Tuesday at the Bnai Moshe.
The paid-up membership card
will serve as the admission tic-

Included in the bridal party
were the bridegroom's sister,
Esta, who acted as maid of honor,
and Miss Lillian Posner; William
W. Boone, who acted as best man,
and Samuel Berkley of the Unit-
ed States Coast Guard.
Lt. Geller has since been trans-
ferred to Tampa, Fla., and Mrs.
Geller will join him to make
their home there.

Miss Caroline Rose Linx, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund
B. Linx of Byron Ave., to George
Orrin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam-
uel Orrin of Philadelphia Ave.,
took place on Sunday afternoon,
at Temple Beth El. Dr. B. Bene-
dict Glaier performed the cere-
mony which was attended by the
immediate families. The couple
left on a moneymoon trip to
Chicago and will be at home to
their friends after Feb. 15 at

The family of Lt. (j.g.) Walter D. Schmier, U. S. Naval Re-
serve, announce open house at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abe A.
Schmier, 17200 Fairfield Ave., on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2 to 5 p. m., for
friends to bid him farewell before his departure for active service.
Lt. Schmier, son of A. M. Schmier of Lawrence Ave., until now
legal advisor to the Central Army Air Forces Procurement Dis
trict, will leave shortly for Fort Schuyler, the Bronx, N.Y.
Mrs. Fred Schild presented a group of her younger pupils at a
piano recital at her home on Wisconsin Ave. on Saturday afternoon,
Jan. 30.
Dr. and Mrs. Reuben Shapiro and their two small sons of Sun
