Detroit Unit of Junior Hadas-'
sah has entered a membership
race with other units in various

convention of Junior Hadassah in
New York, at the Plaza Hotel,
Nov. 26 to 29.
The Detroit unit is culminating
its membership drive with a
paid-up membership dance on
the afternoon of Nov. 22 at the
Park Avenue Hotel. This dance
will be free to all girls who are
paid up members.
There will be a rally at the

Oakman Boulevard, from 2 to 5
p. m. on Nov. 15, to facilitate col-

Dr. Dennis D. Kovan, who has been commissioned a Captain
in the U. S. Army Medical Corps, is stationed at the O'Rreilly
General Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
Marguerite Kozenn, dramatic soprano, and Julius Chajes, corn-
poser-pianist, will appear for the Bnai Brith Hillel Extension at
the Michigan State College in Lansing on Sunday, .November 15.
The concert will be devoted to traditional, Chassidic and Palestinian
music. Rabbi Morton Applebaum is in charge of the program.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Winkelman of Fairfield Ave. are spending
the week of Nov. 7 in New York City.
Dr. and Mrs. Harry H. Kay and their three children of 18201
Santa Rosa Drive will leave on Sunday for Miami Beach, Fla.,
where Dr. Kay will enter Officers' Training School for service in
the Air Force.

Miss Frances Stern of Boston, Mass., one of the pioneers in the
field of dietetics and nutrition who was a leading figure at the
National Nutrition Conference held here the past week, was the
guest of Dr. and Mrs. Shmarya Kleinman.
Mrs. Ida Z. Kleinman addressed the Western Michigan College,
Kalamazoo, Mich., on Nov. 6, at a Consumer Institute, on the topic
"Conservation and War Time Food Problems."
Mrs. M. A. Birndorf has returned from a three weeks' visit
with her son, P. F. C. Fred Birndorf, who is stationed at Camp
Barclay, Texas.
