Women's Clubs Reception to Honor Engagement

CARD PARTY OF SHELTER
AUXILIARY WEDNESDAY
Ladies' Auxiliary of the House
of Shelter is continuing its pro-
gram to maintain and supply nec-
essary furnishings for the home
on Taylor Ave., by promoting its
annual card party to be held at
1:30 p. m. next Wednesday at the
Schiff and Moss Hall, 5028 Joy
Road.
Funds are raised annually
through membership dues and this
yearly event. In 1938-39, the aux-
iliary raised funds to erect an
annex to the home. Since that
time, funds raised by the ladies
assisted in periodic decorating of
the building.

ZEDAKAH PREPARES FOR
ANNUAL DONOR LUNCHEON
Zedakah's annual donor lunch-
eon is gaining many supporters.
Mrs. Ben Lefkowitz, pledge
chairman, TO. 8-5492, is mobil-
izing the co-operation of captains
and workers. Mrs. Paul Deutch,
UN. 3-3469, announces that a
store is available for rummaging
and urges that reservations be
made immediately-. Mrs. Samuel
Sugerman, TO. 5-6757, is pro-
gram book chairman.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Louis Paul,
2451. W. Grand, at 1:30 p. m., on
Monday.

DR. GLAZER TO ADDRESS
WOMEN'S COUNCIL LUNCH
The Detroit Section of the Na-
tional Council of Jewish Women
will give a luncheon for members
in good standing on Dec. 7, at the
Jewish Community Center.
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer will ad-
dress the meeting. Being the first
anniversary of Pearl Harbor,
there will also be a talk by a
Red Cross representative.
Members are requested to bring
bundles for the Council Resale
Shop. Reservations for the lunch-
eon are being taken by the Coun-
cil office.

YESHIVAH LADIES PLAN
HANUKAH CONCERT DEC. 6
A Hanukah concert will be
sponsored by the Ladies of Ye-
shivath Beth Yehudah on Sun-
day evening, Dec. 6, at the Bnai
Moshe Synagogue. The program
is planned by Cantor David
Katzman. Tickets are on sale
et the Yeshivah or by calling

LUNCHEON NOV. 17
Mrs. M. Sandubriae and Mrs.
L. Bartman are co-chairmen of
the donor luncheon to be spon-
sored by the Bnai David Sister-
hood on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at
Jericho Temple.
On Monday evening, a games
party will be sponsored at the
synagogue. Mrs. J. Feigelman
and Mrs. J. Docks are co-chair-
men of the event.

Junior Home Relief Society is
planning to devote its year's
activities to Red Cross and USO
work. Members are knitting,
sewing, compiling scrapbooks
and are assisting the League of
Detroit Jewish Youth in col-
lecting 800 decks of cards for
men in the service.

gress will present an Armistice
Day program, "Looking to the
Peace," at Hotel Statler, Nov. 11,
at 1:45 p. m.
"The Prophet Amos on Times
Square," a dramatic reading, will
be presented by Mrs. Milford
Pregerson, with Biblical music
by Rosa Bassin Stein, pianist.
Dr. J. J. McClendon, presi-
dent of the local chapter of the
National Association for the Ad-
vancement of Colored People, A.
T. Liu, vice president of the
American Section of the Chi-
nese Institute of Engineers, and
Rabbi Leon Fram, of Temple
Israel will be the guest speakers.
