JERUSALEM, (JTA) — The
formation of a Jewish political
organization which is to work
towards the unification of all
Semitic countries, supporting
the objectives of a bi-national
Palestine and a pan-Arab Feder-
ation, was announced here.
Organization was effected at
a conference attended by 60
prominent Jews who are known
as advocates of an Arab-Jewish
rapprochment, including Miss
Henrietta Szold, Moshe Smilian-
sky, Prof. Martin Buber, A. Kal-
varisky and others., Dr. J. I.
Magnes, in outlining the pro-
gram of the new organization
which will be known under the
name "Ichud" ("Unity"), urged
the creation of a committe for
the preparation of a plan for

Refugee Surgeon
To Be Officer

FORT DIX, N. J. (JPS)—The
Army Public Relations depart-
rrient revealed here that Pvt. Her-
bert Kainer, a refugee who was
once a surgical specialist in a
leading Berlin Jewish hospital, is
on his way to a commission, in-
asmuch as the selective service
regulations make special provi-
sion for the naturalization of sol-
diers. Dr. Kainer is now a medi-
cal attendant at the Fort Dix re-
ception center, hoping that the
war will soon be won and that he
can return to writing advanced
