AIMS OF PROPERTY
OWNERS' ASSOCIATION

"We are receiving so many
letters every day that our of
staff has been unable to
answer all individual questions.
We hope to catch up with our
mail soon", is the message to
property owners of Detroit from
Aaron Kurland, executive secre-
tary of the Greater Detroit Prop-
erty Owners and Taxpayers' As-
sociation.
The organization, which - is
seeking relief from the govern-
ment's rent freezing order, is
headed by Karl H. Smith, who
also is president of the National
Federation with which the De-
troit body is affiliated.
The association is a non-profit
body which holds no brief for the
rent gouger, but is seeking fair
treatment for those who have
shown their confidence in Detroit
by investing in real estate, -ac-
cording to Mr. Kurland. The ar-
bitrary ceiling as it now stands
is unfair, improper and based on
erroneous information. The of-
fices are at 977 Penobscot Bldg.
Dues are on a sliding scale ac-
cording to the extent of real
estate holdings, and are quite
nominal.

A letter, almost pleading for
correspondence, and -signed, "a
lonesome soldier," was received
by Herman Jacobs, executive di-
rector of the Jewish Center, from
P. F. C. Jack Davidson . . . A
"forgotten soul" leiter from Pet-
ty Officer Lester Kaufman was
also received by the League of
Detroit Jewish Youth.
